I'm getting a new bass drum pedal soon. But you know what? I have some ideas for a new kind of bass drum pedal. Just some preliminary ideas. But I was wondering what you guys thought the biggest problem with most bass drum pedals was?
For me, it's that there is no true rebound. The resistance is constant depending upon the spring tension.

I don't know about that.....should be able to get a rebound same as with a stick. The spring doesn't do too much the way my peds are set up. It is tensioned very loose. I second the DW 9000
I guess what I'm after is more control. While there is some rebound, wouldn't it be something if there was a pedal designed that acted just like a stick? Meaning that if you make a stroke and let go, the beater continues to bounce like a stick bounces on the drumhead. It's hard for me to explain. While I have no technical problem pulling off what I want to (with what technical ability I have), I always thought that pedal design could be improved as far as mimicing the physics of a drumstick hitting a drumhead.
The biggest problem with my pedals is my lack of chops.
Have you checked out the Airlogic pedal?
DW 9000!!!!! The only choice period.
