A Regulator?

Is the C series Chambers supposed to have a regulator on it?

From what I've seen on mine, it has 2 pilot lights (thermowell and between the burners), the thermostat, and the fuel pipe which connects to your fuel source.

Am I missing something?

Not too long ago Sam (The Uncertain Stoveman) commented on the need (or more accurately as I recollect, the lack of need) for a regulator. Try the search function using regulator as the key word and I bet it will turn up his post.

Tom, I'm planning to convert my Model C to propane as soon as I receive the new-improved service manual.

If I go with your recommendation to use a regulator what kind do I need? Just the regular old Home Depot, off-the-shelf, gas grill type regulator or something fancier?

hi,
two schools of thought on the regulator:
all "modern" stoves have one and if you buy the 400 dollar safety system from toac you get one. i put them on my stoves and include them in my safety systems (for 300 bucks).
sam feels (and he's probably right), that you dont need one because you can easily adjust the gas flow at the endpoint ie the burners. see manual for adjusting flame height.
i use them because most local codes require them, but as we all know, most local codes require a safety system and theres plenty of stoves in use w/o either!
if you decide you want one its typically installed between the main gas supply and the stove gas line. i place them under the shelf in the service area, but thats another story.

Hi Jack, Go to your Propane Dealer and ask for a 3/4" propane regulator. Most carry them in stock or can advise where to get one locally. The cheapo's for gas grills wont supply enough BTU gas flow and wont be 3/4 pipe thread to connect to the input manifold. Regards, Sam

One more question. Is there any reason the regulator can't be placed at the tank, like on a gas grill?
