Darren,
Quick question for you - is there an easy/quick way to get a 1/2 hour or so of VHS video tape onto mpeg/avi/wmv?
TIA
Of course.
- Install crappy (or pro) video capture software
and a Firewire cable/card.
- Free up your harddrive.
- Capture and 'Save as'...
...stuff like Premiere Pro will give you all the
'save as' options you'll ever need - .DVAVI, stream-
able Quicktime, MPEG2 etc. With the cheaper stuff,
you may not get that.
Pros go to the next step..
- 'Save as' .DVAVI (full screen/CD audio/broad-
cast quality video, etc.)
- Grab Dr.DivX and let him convert it into DivX.
The differences are laughably marginal. At
broadcast quality settings:-
30 mins of .DVAVI is roughly 20gigabytes.
30 mins of .DivX is about 450megs.

GREAT NEWS DARREN!!!

my friend.
What it does mean, though, is that I've finally
unpacked and have found all the videos you need.

Three things of note:
- There was more promotional stuff on the Rag
Dolls vid than I remembered.
- The quality of the early Rich Bitch vid is
better than I remembered. (There'll be a clip
of this too, tommorrow).
- I can't find Sinful Kixx CD.
D.
MAKE NO PROBLEMS ABOUT WHAT YA WON'T BE ABLE TO FIND AND THANXXX FOR SPENDIN' YER TIME ON THE SEARCH DAZ!!!!!! MORE THAN GOOD NEWS I'M GETTIN' FROM YER SIDE!!!
The Rag Dolls stuff is rare stuff indeed. I got
the unedited footage from Brian (Rich Bitch):
'Please don't copy it for anyone, or I'm in
trouble.'
In 10-odd years, I've only ever taped it for one
person: Andii.
Then again, like the private Rich Rags vids I
have here, who give a toss anymore, right?
Only joking fellas.
D.
Good bloody vid this was. Especially the TV appearance on that show hosted by Pepsi Tate. (I think we were in the Koolers Daz on a Friday night when that aired and you taped it?).
Possibly. But let's relive those days, eh?....

The Rag Dolls promo DivX is downloading and playing
very lover-ly, by the way.
The guy at the beginning - who quickly goes from
the ultra-macho 'capabilites' to the super-camp
'Rag Dollsss' - is Kym Ryan - a music producer,
apparently.
D.
AS ANXIOUS I AM THAT I CALLED WIFE TO START THE DOWNLOAD 'TIL I ARRIVE HOME CUZ I CAN'T DO IT FROM THE WORK CONNECTION!!!
I think you'll enjoy it. Look out for the cameo
at the beginning.
D.
YA'VE DONE IT AGAIN DARREN!!! MAGNIFIC WORK!!! "PERFECT" LIKE EVERYTHING YA DO BROTHER!!!
I'M ENJOYING MORE THAN YA CAN IMAGINE!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR STUFF LIKE THIS FROM THIS BAND FOR A LONG LONG TIME!!! I NEED NOW (AND SO BAD) THE DEMO SONGS (AUDIO) SOUNDING PERFECT!!! I CAN'T REMEMBER IF YA MENTIONED HAVING 'EM!!!
THANXXX!!!
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH BUT I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT ABOUT THE "CAMEO"
Daz have just grabbed this -excellent work as always mate
Now I have craving for some Rag Dolls.
Yeh... Poor Rag Dolls - another band who missed
the boat despite doing everything right.
Mr. 'assess...their capabilities' still cracks me
up. His appearence couldn't have helped the cause!
LOL
Marky - I have the 'Mad, Bad...' demo, yeh. The
audio quality of the Marquee vid isn't too shabby either.
And as you've seen, the TV promos are fairly decent quality -
well, broadcast quality.
BTW, I didn't apply that cheesy pixelation effect
on the TV clips, that was some idiot on Pepsi's
Rough Mix show (which is where the clips are from)
thinking themselves 'down' with the kids.

http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0...R0UFVXHDBXTH4P
Marky, I'm still going to snailmail you a copy
of the Rag Dolls/Rich Bitch videos and tapes.
As for Sinful Kixx, it's possible that Andii
has a copy of the CD - I'm not sure. I can get
hold of it, somehow, but I'll grab your remastered
versions later on, anyway.

FORGET ABOUT SINFUL KIXX AND TAKE A LISTEN ON MY VERSION CUZ WHEN I DIDN'T THINK THAN AN ORIGINAL WOULD BE NEEDED, A "YOUSENDIT" ADVISE TO GO FOR AN ORIGINAL ARRIVED TO MY EMAIL FROM A FRIEND!!! AND COMPARING BOTH I DON'T KNOW IF MINE SOUNDS STILL A LIL BETTER!!! SNAIL MAIL SEND??? I DON'T WANT TO IMAGINE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I TAKE A NEW PICTURE TO SHOW THE ARRIVAL OF IT!!! LMAO!!!! ONCE AGAIN, THANXXX DARREN!!!
I wouldn't advise posting another pic - they
might say that you've aged 10 years since the
new one! LOL
Will be DL'ing SX in a couple of hours.
D.
One download later...
Haha! I haven't heard that in ages. We used to
rehearse that, just for a laugh. It was never
performed live as Ratpack, I'm pleased to say -
'cause it was just a bit too pedestrian, a bit
too plod-plod. 'Dead or Alive' was, though, in
a real fuck off, spikey punk style.
By the way, it's called 'Sinners Boulevard'.
Sound quality (tested on 5.1 setup): not bad,
not bad. Not bad at all, actually. I will try
to get hold of the CD, though, if Andii hasn't
got it.
Trival gossip about the recording of the CD:
It was done at Gems, in Boston. Saxon were also
recording at the same time. SX didn't just trash
their own portacabin, they even trashed Saxon's,
at one point. Biff never spoke to Dean again. Haha.

Good stuff Daz. Yep, that Ragdolls video is a good one. Kim Ryan. Man that guy is still about too. I told the jobcentre a while back during one of those fucked up interviews you get every so often, that I was interested in music etc, and the guy there giving the interview happened to know Kim Ryan and offered to put me in touch with him.
"You got it... it's the Rag Dolls"
I've a suspicion that young boys working for KymQuote:

DARREN IS A TRUE RUMOR, THAT ABOUT YA UPLOADING THE RAGDOLLS DEMO JUST TO KILL MY ANXIETY 'TIL THE PACKAGE GOES IN THE MAIL???? VERY NICE OF YA!!! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] LMAO!!!
Minor bump, because I probably won't be online
over the weekend.

http://student.dc.lincoln.ac.uk/~u03...ls_divxpic.jpg

If anyone reading hasn't downloaded it already,
do it! It's glamma-mama-mania! Pepsi's on it, so
is the world's most suspect music producer, Kym
Ryan. Rachel Stamp's Robin Guy's was drumming
at the time. Fuck knows what's happened to the
rest of them, though.... Working for Pepsi Cabs,
I expect. LOL

No. You can stop whinging and bloody wait for it
like anyone else.
Only joking. If I have the jack - jack cable at
home, I'll sample/mp3 it over the weekend and
upload it on Monday. Sadly, I'm not online at
home at the moment, which is real pain in
situations like this.

Sorry Marky, I got caught up this weekend
producing a new Spark TV show about computer
games, called Pixel. Hopefully it'll be a success.
I'll welcomely use GNet peeps' self-recorded
music on the show, if the production quality's
decent.
Anyway, the Rag Dolls maybe Wed/Thur, because
I'm way behing on a presentation for Wednesday
morning, but I will try.
(I sound like bloody Raggzamuffin, now, don't
I. Oh, the shame of it all!)
D.
Marky - You should have received your Rag Dolls
demo (3 mp3s, demo cover scan) in email by now?
D.
GOT IT DARREN!!! THANXXX A MILLION!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THE BAD SOUND QUALITY FOR BEING AN ORIGINAL!!! I ALREADY HAD OTHER COPY RECORDED FROM A DIFFERENT ORIGINAL W/COVER AND IT SOUND AS BAD AS THIS ONE!!! IT'S STRANGE CUZ THE SONGS SOUND A LOT BETTER IN THE VIDEO!!!
That's because I post-produced the audio on the
DivX vid. I didn't have time to do the tape stuff
- but then I remembered how much fun you have
doing it anyway.
D.
Love the vid Darren
Did the Rag Dolls ever have any offcial releases?
Nah, not really. The Marquee showcase gig for
A&R was a kind of shit-or-bust event, really.
When shit all happened afterwards they went
bust. Robin, of course, ended up in Rachel Stamp
and Marc went to Nottingham to work for Marvel
Comics.
Just before the end there was that brief stab at
things with City Kidds chap, Marc Valentine(?),
on guitar (the one in the pixel'y TV clips), but
that was about it (I think).
Then again, we all know how this place works:
whisper any band's name and they'll show up
here a few days later. You may get the full
story sooner than you think?
D.
Hi! I downloaded this videoclip. But I just got the sound. Is it supposed to be like this? Or is something wrong? Hmm! Well....could I get this Rag Dolls stuff to, Darren???
Now I got it to work. Just downloaded a Divx Codec....lol! So easy! But I still want ALL the stuff I can get with Rag Dolls. A great glam band!!!
There's only the demo, a newer demo feat.
'Addicted' and 'White Knuckle Ride' (which they
mimed to on that TV show) but I've never actually
seen the tape, although the TV version is clear
enough, isn't it?
Also, the unedited gig at The Marquee and the little
promo film (15mins) Mr. Capabiliteez is taken
from. I'll be sending all this bollox to Marky
Glam soon. Once he gets it, I'm sure he won't
take too long in remastering the audio, getting
shit upto Drop-a-load, etc. I'm sure he's already
remastered the demo mp3s?
D.
Darren
Any chance ya can re-post the promo vid ?
Was gonna send it to Mr Robin Guy but i seem to have deleted it
CheeRS
Maff
It'll be done by Monday, mate. Am not online
at home, and it's not on the iPod I have with
me. Don't worry, I'll sort it.
