Its never too early to preview for next year. Heres my picks

I'd put clintwood higher. They were young this year

5-8 could go anyway.. Pound could prolly finish higher if they can get an offesive line.. they lost them all almost...

Kelly will be MUCH MUCH improved.. they tasted a win last year

Coeburn will be much like Kelly this year... when they get their first win they could make a difference..

I might want to add.. Powell Valley will win Div 2 region D and play for the state title

and JI Burton will make thier 3rd straight title appearance..

I don't know about that they are only returning 2 seniors next year and it is hard to win when your team is mostly 9th and 10th graders I hope that the younger kids play better than there age but I look for a bit of a rebuilding year next season (Honistly it is a bit too soon to much more than guess about what might happen at this point)

8 Coeburn <--- Lost too many important starters, so they'll likely be worse next year.

I thought Fleming was only a junior?

Not sure... I was thinking he was a senior, but if he's only a junior then that will be great for Pound. He wasn't a bad QB at all, I'm just surprised he didn't do better than what he did.

Yea he is a pretty good QB

Yeah, the only real problem I saw with him was that his decision making was really questionable at times. I think that if he could take his time a bit more, he could really complete some wild passes.

There at the first of that Powell Valley game, he was doing great, but by the second half he was just drained.

I know this is supposed to be about the LPD, but here is how I seen Region D going...

Division 1
JI Burton. Returns a dozen or more starters. Div. 1 belongs to Burton, they are basically without any competition at this point

Division 2
Haysi. Regardless of who leaves Haysi, Colley and the gang will be back for another run at the Region. QB Lance Compton and TE Joe Yates return next year for the Tigers. I believe they will repeat this year's performance in 06

Yeah, Gate City was so senior-laden this year I don't know what they are going to do for next season. I guess Parks will have to do it all himself. The Devils might not even finish 5th in the district & might be staring right at their own J.J. Kelly-type run of sorts.

The future looks very bleak for Gate City football. Send a prayer out to them, all is most definitely needed and appreciated.

Yeah, Parks will have a heavy load on his shoulders come next season.... but ah, I'm sure he can make some things happen if he really needs to. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Div 1 should be App and Burton again

Div 2 will most likly be PV and GC. from what I am hearing Honaker and Haysi will be a step or two back from where they were this year

I believe Appy will compete for Division 1 with Burton. It will interesting to see how the Coleman boys will step up in the running game next year for the Raiders.

Powell Valley will stink it up next year.

Gate City wont ever finish worse then 3rd. Ever.

I'm not so sure about that NOLA, it's been well-documented that Gate City was senior-laden this season and don't have anything coming back from this year except Tyler Parks. The Blue Devils are in a world of hurt after this season, everyone is mentioning that fact.

Well people are mentioning they are losing everyone important to graduation and the only player that Gate City has coming back is Parks, so they must have been very senior-laden in that case. I haven't heard from anyone on the number of seniors & senior starters on their team this past season, but from what I have heard on here from individuals (all coming from people outside of Gate City), they must have had 20-25 seniors or more on the roster & the majority of them filled both the offensive and defensive starting team.

lost something like 19 my senior year and still went to regional finals

parks and hackney are both back, tihlee anderson will qb, theyll be just fine and i dont even like gc football

haha no...i just didnt invest anything in gate city football...i dont HATE gate city football or any other sport for that matter, i just wasnt an enthusiastic fan or anything of that sort...i cheered for my friends of course, but just wasnt/am not enamored with gc football moreso now with all my friends gone

you see this is what confuses me about you gcdevil, you go to Tech and you root for your college, though you were probably a Tech fan before you went to school there, you still root for them, and you get on here and you say that you're not a big fan of GC football. There has to be a reason other than you didn't play, I mean after all it is your alma mater. What did you play? I know basketball and possibly tennis, anything else? So do you not like high school football in general???? You get on here and you throw out all you high tech college educated slander and you can't give a better reason than "I'm just not that enamored with GC football," come on man that just don't make no sense.

I know this sounds like I'm going off on you, I hope you don't take it that way, I just want to know why your not a fan of your high school football team.

I like football, but I don't care much for basketball or baseball.

alright...let me be clear...i dont hope they lose and ill be happy if they win, but im just not a big high school football fan i guess you could say, although i like to follow high school recruiting

i guess it also has to do with a couple instances of kids in high school who got on the football team and werent really "athletic" but they automatically thought they were the stuff

some so far as to think they would make the basketball team just because they played football

but even with all that i dont "dislike" gc football...just dont get into it like 98% of the town
