Next week predictions

Powell Valley and Pound-there isn't much you can say about this game. Maybe PV turned their season around for the better vs. Gate City. They're not giving up. My thoughts? Pv 49, Pound 0.

Apppalachia and JJ Kelly-The two teams have the same record. This game will be a good one. Appalachia 28, Kelly 27

Clintwood and Burton-Game of the week. Burton seems to have everyone's number yet again. This may even be a preview of the Region D d1 title. Clintwood 14, Burton 12.

Gate City and Lee-Lee seems to be clicking this year. Lee is coming from a heartbreaking loss to Lebanon. Gate City is coming off a disappointing 38 to 14 loss to Powell Valley. Lee 28, GC 21 in 3OT.

You can throw the records out the window when Clintwood and Burton play, will be a great game and yes Clintwood has a chance to beat Norton, always a good game. Can't wait for this game and I think Norton will win, how bad depends on which Clintwood team show up. I think it will be Burton 27, Clintwood 14

Norton will win, but it won't be easy.

Appy by 16 over Wise, PV by 75 over Pound.

Powell Valley 49, Pound 6

Kelly 28, Appalachia 24 - The Indians upset the Bulldogs who haven't impressed me a bit this year except for their big win over Shelby Valley.

Burton 35, Clintwood 21 - The Wave are pretty good but the Raiders are even better. Regardless, I look for this one to be closer than most expect.

Lee High 22, Gate City 21 - The Generals upset the "mighty" Blue Devils and earn themselves a strong reputation to help shadow the rocky past.

That Shelby Valley win was their last game, so IMO they are peaking at the right time...I think Appy wins a tight one

Agreed. If CW had 3 runners go over 100 (139, 128, 117) against JJK, it could get ugly thinking about what Appy could do.

Leedy and Ireson should rack up some big numbers...making the Appy-CW comparison, IMO Appy has a better O-Line. Plus, the atmosphere at Riggs is always one of a bygone throwback era. All in all, I think it is going to prove to be too much for the Indians. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

Does #28 for Clintwood get alot of playing time?

On defense yes. He's a very solid outside lb. On offense it's spotty. He's gets touches but not a ton. Of course until Friday, it was rare that we had the ball for more than 3 plays at a time and then...... punt. If he's not CW's fastest player, he's their second fastest. He has a tendency to get knicked up at times too.

I thought he was impressive. It was fun watching him run. But of course Kelly couldn't tackle a sack of taters last night. I didn't know much about him. Thought maybe Clintwood could work him in as another back or WR against Norton. The kid had some moves on him.

I went to this game, and was somewhat impressed with Appy. Both sides played pretty well. However, SV seemed to be out of shape. Saunders needs to run them boys some more.

Mabye your wrong though, and they don't.

PV 40+ sophs will get plenty of playing time; Dakota will wreak havoc the few minutes he plays; Pound 12 - merely because Phil lets his seniors rest before issuing a dawg thrashing the following week
JJK 27 Appy 20 - Kelly has alot to play for, Appy will be looking over them in anticipation of the annual beat down that the Vikes have for them
Clintwood/Norton - I'm almost apt to say that CW will win handily, and still feel they might if a FEW things happen - notably, Stewart is a little off, and they're looking ahead to GC. JIB will either lose this one or GC will kick them around. As a parent, if I was to move from BSG, I wouldn't mind living in CW. They're hungry, got good coaching, have players with big hearts. JIB is learning that success breeds alot of contempt and slothfulness - if you don't believe that, ask Nick and Phil.

Totally disagree and I'll tell you why: While Leedy and Ireson are fine ballcarriers, they do not possess the speed or elusiveness that the fellers we saw in green Friday night have. They will get their yards (as will the JJK ball carriers), but the #s won't be the same. Just my opinion, but Friday night will tell the tale.
