Little League Results
Wise captures the 9-10 District 13 Baseball Tournament, going 4-0 and defeating Lee West 18-9 tonight. Next stop is Central Louden for the state tournament. Congratulations to the players and coaches.
I read that Clintwood won the 9-10 girls' softball and will travel to Tuckahoe for state.

Re: Little League Results
Does anyone know anything about the Junior League games today?
-
Re: Little League Results
In junior league action, Coeburn beat Clintwood 11-2 and Pound was beating Appalachia 9-2 in the 4th when I left, if i'm not mistaken.
Coeburn plays Lee tomorrow at 5, Big Stone will play the Appy/Pound winner at 7:30.
The Senior League Tourny opens up tomorrow at 2 with Norton and Clintwood.
All games are at Buster Taylor field in Powell Valley.

Norton beat Clintwood 9-5 and play Big Stone tomorrow at 8.

Re: Little LeaNgue Results
Junior league: Coeburn beat Lee West 6-5 today. Lee scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th and Coeburn scored 3 in the bottom to get the win. This was one of the best baseball games I have seen locally in a very long time.
BSG was up big on Pound in the 3rd when a heavy storm came through. I think they will resume play tomorrow.
Losers bracket games are tomorrow, winners bracket final is Monday at 7:30.

Re: Little LeaNgue Results
does anyone know if you have to play a regular season to be allowed to play in the tournament?
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
Its been a few years since I have dealt with Little League rules, but it seems as though you have to play in X amount of games to be eligible for all star teams. Im not sure of the amount though.

I think it is 50% or 60% of the regular season games with a minumem of 12 games (I would have to look it up to be 100% for sure but I think that is right)
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
Each team has to play a minimum of 12 games prior to tournament with each player on roster playing in a minimum of 60% of those 12 games to be eligible.

Re: Little LeaNgue Results
does that apply to junior league also?

Re: Little LeaNgue Results
It apples to all little league tournament teams; however, waivers can and are usually granted.
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
i was just wondering cause my son played a "summer" j.v. league for norton they did notreally play any local games and they were not in the junior league tourney so ws jsut wondering if it was a coaches decision or something like that
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
I would doubt they would grant a waiver for someone who did not sign up for junior league or at least participate in a single game.
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
i meant they played teams from ky tn i think the only local team they played was 1 game against coeburn i was jsut wondering if that dissallowed them from playing in the tourney where they did not play local games
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
The waivers are for the teams, not the individual players. The teams do have to play games, just not the whole schedule.
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
We played Norton once, seemed to have a pretty good squad. They had other games scheduled, but always canceled, their coach said they had problems getting everyone to show up.
-
Re: Little LeaNgue Results
most times they had at least 9 players aged 13-14 most rising 8th graders or 9th graders, i was jsut curious why they did not play in the jr league tourney whether it was a c.d.(coaches decision) or some other reason

Re: Little LeaNgue Results
Coeburn's 11-12 softball won the district title tonight 13-3 and earned a trip to the state tourny in Va. Beach. These girls should represent the area well, if I'm not mistaken this is the group of girl's that won a state tile a couple years back in the 9-10 division.
In Junior League Baseball Lee West beat Pound 15-5 in 5 innings.
Lee West will play BSG tomorrow to decide who will play Coeburn in the Championship.
In Senior League Baseball the winner of tonights Clintwood/Norton game will play BSG in the championship tomorrow.
