Well here he is...my biggest electro sculpture to date. 3 1/2 feet tall! It was basically something I had to get out of my system. I just finish his final assembly last night. Only a few minor tweaks here and there to go.
My oldest daughter christened him "Hobo". Don't ask me why. Maybe because he's made up of scraps of just about anything I had laying around.

The body is an internal metal case frame from an old Mac. The head is a composition of a metal CD drive case and half of the plastic casing from an old electric can opener. His legs are constructed out of metal rail mount guides from 3/4 VTRs and are covered with tubing from my old sump pump. The feet are metal casings for the VTRs power supplies and are topped of with stainless steel boots from Home Depot's plumbing department.

Fingers were created using pieces of PVC tubing mounted to strips of sheet metal via pop rivets. They are then connected to a small metal disk which is covered with the round part from a telephone handset. The arms are flexible electrical conduit with a couple of 12 guage wires inside for articulation.

The eyes are actually directional night lights I pick up at Meijers (which makes them easy to replace if one burnd out). Deep inside the mouth I mounted an "electric candle" bulb that flickers like a flame. I wanted to show some signs of life in this guy's skull and it ended up looking like a pilot light. Works for me!

Inside the main body I enclosed a set of mini chasing Xmas lights. 8 of them are mounted in a circle behind the big gear on his tummy. They look pretty cool flashing in numerous sequences (the button to change sequences is under his left arm). The rest of the Xmas lights are just hung up inside his body for an ambient working computer look.

The coup d'?tat was this glowing heart night light I found at Meijer. I had this opening in his chest that was originally for the comps duct fan. I was just going to gather some Xmas lights there. But when I saw the heart night light, I knew it was perfect for the part! Yes folks, this tin man has a heart.
