I just wanted to publiclly thank Michigan Mom (Michele) so much! I had her make a girl sized outfit for my DD> It is a replica of Kit's birthday dress and she did a FANTASTIC job! the pattern is slightly different but you can hardly tell. The dress looks the same. she looked high and low for the exact matching buttons and it looks fantastic!
Kailey loves it and wants to wear it this weekend (but it is too cold here) and I just wanted to thank her. I hope to take pictures soon and will post them.

Okay, I am brining this back to the top. I am also including a link to my imagestation albumn. I have never made one before so let me know if it does not work.
The pictures are of Kailey (my daughter) in her Kit birthday dress. She is having a birthdya party for her favorite bunny, Oatmeal. Today is his birthday. I did not take too many photos as DH thinks I am nuts and did not want me wasting pics on the doll party DD was having.
Kailey (girl) is using the Samatha dall.child ea set from Halmark. it is a great quality item and DD loves it.

I haven't seen your dress yet ( I forgot my password for imagestation and am waiting for it to be emailed), but I'm anxious to as I have not seen any other Girl's versions of this excet for the one I made for my own dd a couple years ago. I was so excited to find the exact same fabric only in a larger print!
There are many many 1930's style prints out there in a variety of authentic colors right now. Look in any store that carries quilting fabrics. The independent ones have the biggest selection, but Joannes has some too. I live near Little Quilts, which has it's own line of fabrics and books, and I bought my fabric there. However, my fabric was made by Chantaclaire, which does stunning reproductions of vintage fabrics. In my Hancocks fabrics carries them ( Joanne's does not)
Marcus Brothers does a similar fabric, with a smaller (doll sized) print.
I used to know a website that was nothing but authentic copies of antique textiles and I lost it when I lost a computer. I can't think of their name. But, they are out there, and can be googled for.
I made my pattern. I think I used a shirt pattern to get the sleeves right, and eyeballed the rest. I used cups to make the circles for scallops where the buttons go. It's an easy dress, if you're fairly accomplished. I made Kit's PJs too, although for the life of me I don't know why, considering they are available to buy. But, I liked my version better - they were more like Kit's.

Oh! I saw it - your dd is adorable! Our dress is nearly identical, except our print is different ( has the multicolor print like Kit's). I overdyed the piping to get the color closer to what they used in the 1930's.
My dd is very slim, like yours, and I will say, if others want to attempt it, this is a dress that will bind around the tummy and hips if a child has any, don't you think? It's very straight and unforgiving. Also, it is hard to get the collar just right at the front of the neck. Fun to make though, if you like puzzles like this.
