Our local children's resale store has had this basket that I've been ignoring for two months now. Oh, I'd check to make sure it was still there, hidden way up high on a shelf, but I refused to do more than that. You see, it contained an adorable brown-eyed/haired Bitty Baby with soft eyelashes, wearing her 1996 Beach set, holding Bitty Bear and a little mini Samanatha. No, the basket was not going to call to me. I refused to let that happen. Someone else would adopt them, I thought.
Weeks went by. The weather was starting to turn, and poor baby was still wearing that skimpy Beach outfit. It occurred to me today when I was at the shop that this poor little girl had waited long enough for a home. No one but me knew she was up there! Perhaps I could take her in...sort of a foster parent arrangement...and then put her up for adoption here on HB. I have a bunch of things I am planning to sell in the next few weeks, so I could just add Bitty to the album. Yes! That would work! Some kind HB member would be glad to give her a loving home! So the basket came home with me. My 2.5 year old son said "Mommy, why you buying more babies?" "Hush," I told him.
I put Bitty in my daughter's seat before I picked her up from art class. She opened the door and her eyes just bugged out. The rest, as they say, is history.
Bitty's name is Rebecca. She is very happy to join Felicity, Elizabeth, Jess, PM Kirsten, PM Molly, Stella Claire (rewigged PM AGoT-2), our as-yet-unnamed rescued Mattel AGoT-2, Addy (who is in transit), Bitty twin L.J., Skylar and Hallie, Coconut and Licorice, and non-AG girls Ana, Laura, Mary, and Carrie.
You know, we only had three AG dolls when I joined this board back in April....

Awe, what a cute little story. I bet the look on your daughter's face was priceless. Congrats!

Congratulations on Rebecca!

Rebecca sounds adorable! My bitty named Kathleen is still wearing her beach outfit. She looks so precious in it, but I really need to put her in something warmer. Congrats on your new dollie

What a wonderful story. As they say (whoever they are?) it was meant to be. I'm glad Rebecca found a new home with a Mommy who fell in love with her as soon as she laid eyes on her.

Awww, that's a sweet story. Congrats on the new BB.
BTW, your son's question was very funny.

Thanks, everyone. The funniest thing about this is that when I rather sheepishly presented the new dolly to DH, he thought that she looked a lot like our kids did as babies. Then he pulled back her bonnet and was surprised to see the painted-on hair. He's used to seeing AG dolls with manes of hair. "Woah," he said, "She looks funky without hair. Keep her hat on!"

Awwwwwwwww. ^__^
That's the AG force for ya'. But I'm glad that little baby Rebecca now has a loving forever home. <3

So glad you decided to adopt precious Rebecca! She sounds like she is home to stay...

I think DH has a point. Put a WIG on!
Now tell the story about Bernard's Bernie. I think everyone will love it.
Rats, I've never gotten Instant Messages before. I changed the name to protect the innocent and got IM'd before I finished typing. This board needs to speed up!
