If this has been a topic, forgive me- I'm new.
I've been playing this particular snare for many months now (the 5.5" x 14) and just find it to be one of the most versatile snares, as well as crisp, yet warm. I put die-cast hoops on it, and find it can just be adjusted for almost any style of gig. I read that Neil Peart used it for 3 tracks on Vapor Trails, and that some jazz cats- I believe Erskoman used it for a spell- have played on it as well.
Just curious about other thoughts from the gallery....

I heard this kid in this trio playing that snare on New Years for a straight ahead gig. It sounded SOOOO woody and nice. Perfect straight ahead jazz snare, i loved it!

Is this bamboo snare still being manufactured? I have never seen it.

I have a 14x6.5 since a couple of months. It's the most beautiful wood snare that I've ever played. Extremely versatile, perfect for straight-ahead jazz and Big Band.
My favourite Big Band Snare.

As i said, this is a beautiful straight-ahead snare. The most amazing woody sound i have heard on a new snare. The sound belies it's age. This kid using it on that gig on New Year's, that i mentioned... he could swing well, but GOD, the snare bumped his straight-ahead feel up a few notches. It really made a difference. I was set on getting a Steve Jordan snare, but now i don't know... might have to consider BOTH [img]rolleyes.gif[/img]

Oh, how does this snare work if you wanted to crank it up a little and use it on a pop-ish gig?

You could probably buy it, and then after a few days if you didn't love it, exchange it for a different model snare. Plus, you could report back to us! [img]smile.gif[/img]
