Depending on how paranoid you are, Mozilla and FF are supposed to be better than IE.

Me? I've not have a problem with IE. Maybe Jumpter can chime in here.

Trav has IE and hasn't had a problem.

Why are you looking at M and FF?

I just think with our spyware issues, and things getting past the firewall, firefox may be good for us...just wondering.

Like I said, we run IE, nd have had no problems. That said, we do have Zone Alarm, and use AVG (free edition) along with Adaware and Sypbot.

(Knocking on wood here) Since I quit working for the Compuer Clueless, we've had nary a virus.

One interesting sidenote is that Trav has Nortons on his laptop. When we were in Orlando in January (no Florida comments -- it was cold) Nortoms didn't find a virus that AVG did.

I recommend just downloading and trying Firefox. It should reduce your spyware problem (unless you click gobs o' links on porn and hacker sites). They just incorporated a bunch of security fixes to reduce "spoofing", where fake web sites steal your personal info.

Once you try the tabbed browsing (like Opera) and some of the extensions you prolly won't want to go back. There are large numbers of extensions (plug ins) and themes (skins) that help you customize the browser. For example, one extension I use lets you highlight text on a bulletin board, then right click and apply UBB code for bold, italic, <font color="#CC33CC">color</font>, etc....

If you stay with Internet Explorer, install IE Spyad, it will help block a bunch o' crap.

jdf, I think I have the link you want.

It explains in normal person (non-ubergeek) language what the differences are, why you might want to change, and some of the cool aspects of Firefox. It doesn't talk down to you but you don't have to be a computer professional to get what they are saying.
