Great read. I don't agree with him that the Reeve Superman movies were 'perfect' (they haven't aged well at all) but Reeve was perfectly cast and the suit worked just fine. A little updating wouldn't be a bad thing but they did go too far.
I enjoyed his comment about 'design by committee'. In my line of work I have to deal with that crap all the time and it's the worst thing that can happen to the creative process. I agree that the new costume isn't the result of one or two people's opinion. I'm sure everyone from the designer to the janitor put their stink on it. And nothing good ever comes from a committee decision - this is a perfect example. As the old saying goes, ask ten people for their opinion and they'll give you ten different answers. I think it's strange to judge a movie from 30 years ago by today's movie standards. Nothing really ages well...
But i agree about meetings. too many dumbasses in one room is a bad thing.

Honestly, I wondered about the Spiderman suit the first time I saw it... I eventually liked the way it translated to the screen.
I was nervous about the Batman Begins suit because the first pic they had of it was brightly lit and it made the suit look pretty cheesy... now that the trailers are showing the suit (and it's range of motion) in dark and shadows, it works really well! (particularly with the story line.)
Superman is tough to please everyone. On one hand it's THE classic hero who chooses to protect his adopted home world with his extra-ordinary abilities. On the other hand, you've got a doof who wears red underware on the outside of his long johns, and somehow hides from the world by putting horn-rimmed glasses on. It's definitely a challenge to walk that ballance between modernizing him and remaining faithful to the source.
Spidey had an easier pathway... but Kingdom Come shows what can be done with the DC universe.
I happen to like cheesy cornball...in fact, I would have preferred if Spidey had worn the outfit from the 70's tv show...and if the new Supes wore Chris's old gear.
kinda like how I think the best Bat-suit was worn by Adam West.
