Any single pedal players out there?

Hi guys!

I was wondering how many of you guys play single pedal. I am planning on getting a new pedal maybe a dw 5000 or pearl eliminator. Suggestions? Your help is much appreciated.

I currently only play single pedal. I'm using an Iron Cobra and I have fallen in love with it, but out of the choice of those two I would choose the dw. I have tried both of them out, and IMO the dw has better feel, probably because its most similar to the IC.

I'm not a single pedal player (in fact i use my double pedal far too much, hehehe!), but the Pearl Eliminator is an amazing pedal.

It has perfect balence, weight and footboard size. The beater it comes with is pretty good too - four sound options to choose from: sounds like a good idea to me.

I'm hopefully getting a double for my new kit, which should improve my playing a lot. I think there is a reason good players use expensive equipment (other than it helps the companies sell their most expensive equipment) - in my experience it helps me play better! My double pedal work improves amazingly if i play on an eliminator. I don't know why this is - weight, footboard size, etc. I think it's definately worth the money to get that feeling at home, though, hehehe! [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

Thanks guys. I'm starting to lean towards the eliminators a bit more now. I still gotta decide whether to go double or single. I have become quite proficient on a single pedal, and I'm not sure whether the extra expense of a double would be worth the money.

any pedal should be good....i have a yamaha chain drive and a strap and chin drive dw. I still love the throw of the strap. Too bad not so many companies make em any more. BTW...i love playin single kik....only play double if its needed in a session or a gig...

I only play single. Regarding your choice of pedal:
If you get the chance, try and play them both on YOUR bass drum. This can make all the difference. The resonance on your skins is unique and a pedal you decide to buy, should work best for your kit. Good luck and let us know what you decide to buy!

I have only ever had single pedals.

I have never been playing and thought to myself, "Hmmm, this music really needs some double pedal licks". I only ever played one on a friends kit and all I did was 'duga-duga-duga-duga-duga' anyway.

Still, some people can do some seriously amazing stuff with them...

I have a couple of older Yamaha double pedals (basic but perfectly fine), an Axis double (excellent) and Pearl Eliminator double. I like them all and can play any well made pedal, IC, DW, etc. I prefer double pedals because of the rhythmic possiblilities they offer. It's like having an extra gear or as Nigel Tufnel might say, "They go to eleven"!

i have both a double and single. i find myself playing single more these days just because of the fact that it helps me concentrate on the groove more. i won't start thinking well here's an extra pedal so i'd better use it. i'm trying to focus on the pocket more also. keep in mind though that the stuff i play is more groove oriented music. i don't play speed metal, or progressive stuff. i'm sure if i did, i might pull out the old faithful doubles. i like to set up my kit / cymbals and pedals depending on what kind of music i play. btw, i use the yamaha 7 series? i believe it has no footplate. it's the one that came with my dtx electric kit. hope this helps.
