great news that stern is finally playing at ronnie scotts for a week in may. but i just checked his tour page and the drummer for that bit is a guy called "kim thomson".....anyone ever heard of him??? was hoping stern would bring weckl or chambers.

Wow - pretty smokin'.... I'm sure she plays as good as she looks....
Maybe it's just me, but I've always thought it would be a turn on to play with a really hot female bass player that could really groove......

oh my god dave!!! i have always been incredibly attracted to chick bass players. i don't know what it is. maybe just holding that big thing in their hands. hell, an average looking chick playing bass is totally hot to me! yes! glad to hear i'm not the only one!

I hate to say this, and it's just my opinion.
The last time I saw Kim Thompson play, she was subbing for Steve Hass on a Janis Siegel gig at the Blue Note in NY.
It was terrible. She plays very loud, and out of time. To people that don't understand music she appears to have lot's of chops, but when hand are out of control, I don't like it. On straight ahead jazz gigs where the time feel can shift and move she sounds pretty good. But she's not there yet. I'm amazed she's playing Stern. Then again, no I'm not. Stern is a spacehead.
I've yet to hear her play, but...
