I know there have been many threads on who we think would be good for the next historical, so I thought I would make up a poll of the most popular ideas Ive seen. So without further adeu (I know I spelled that wrong) here it is:
*1634 Puritan girl in Massachusettes (limited collection like Kaya)
*1814 Girl growing up during the War of 1812 from Kentucky or Michigan Territory
*1874 Girl who travels west on Oregon Trail
*1884 Chinese girl whose family immigrates to California
*1895 A Jewish immigrant from Eastern Europe or Russia who lives in New York City
*1924 A girl growing up in the jazz age in (where else?) CHICAGO!
My personal vote is for the 1920s girl; with a short bob (a little shorter than Kit's) slightly wavy brown hair and eyes, I think that would be really cute. That or the Puritan. So what are your votes?

I think a jewish immagrant girl would be really neat. I know my friend who is jewish would be thrilled if they had a HISTORICAL jewish girl. I think it would be such a neat story. So my vote if for the jewish imagrant girl!

Good thread!! The historicals are my favorite and it's about time for a new one. (I don't think the "friend" dolls count)
You guys have come up with really good characters. I love the Pilgrim/Puritan idea, and the Oregon Trail one too, (they'd HAVE to make a little covered wagon!!) and the War of 1812 would be very interesting. But I would personally LOVE to see them make a Southern Belle living during the Civil War. (I know they have Addy, but she only represents half of the country during that time.) Also, her clothing should be more elaborate and fancier than Addy's. I would make her have blonde hair, (slightly curly) with pretty green eyes like Felicity. I wouldn't really care what state she came from, although I would prefer Texas or Virginia.
My brother thinks they should do an Irish immigrant who's family came to America during the Irish Potato Famine and is now living during the Civil War. (As you might have guessed, we are all big Civil War buffs!!!) I know Nellie is supposed to be Irish, but somehow I don't think she is Irish "enough". (Not that I don't love Nellie!)
A Scottish doll would be wonderful too! I would name her Marjory...from one of my favorite books...LOL. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

My first choice is:
1895 A Jewish immigrant from Eastern Europe or Russia who lives in New York City, because this is my family's background.
I also like:
1634 Puritan girl in Massachusettes (limited collection like Kaya)
1814 Girl growing up during the War of 1812 from Kentucky or Michigan Territory
Because I love those eras of history!! Early American History is one of my favorite periods.

I think the Jazz Age girl sounds awesome. They really need one in the 1920s! I also the Jewish immigrant girl and Chinese girl....well, actually, I like all of the ideas! I think the next girl will be Chinese, just because we don't have one yet.
I will want whomever comes!

Because I love those eras of history!! Early American History is one of my favorite periods.
Me too!! I picked the Michigan territory because the area of MI that I live in is right on Lake Erie and was also the sight of a few battles and a major massacre and most of the people were of French Canadian descent and actually got on well (until then) with the Native Americans, so I would love to see a girl like who represented part of my own past!

NOT Puritan since I just spent three years of my life researching and developing my own Purtian character (Susanna! or rather the ancestor of the Susanna you see in my albums)
I vote for Russian Jewish immigrant from 1884. She needs to have curly red hair and green eyes!

I would have to say Puritan because I LOVE all the history and have traveled to Salem many times researching the Witch Trials and other history of the 1600's. I vowed to not buy any more dolls, but I would snatch her up in a heartbeat if they offered her. Your other ideas are really great too!

*1924 A girl growing up in the jazz age in (where else?) CHICAGO!

I think, IMO that even though I have major pride in my hometown, Chicago a girl from the 1920s would be very similar to Kit. A Jewish immigrant girl definitely would capture my interest, since I'm Jewish, or an Asian historical.
However I really want a girl from the 1960s. I know many of you think that's too recent, especially since I was born in the mid 1970s. But, especially after watching American Dreams and having baby-boomer parents there would be so much material as far as a story would go. The war, racial tension, television, rock n roll music, and most of all, womens(and girls) liberation.
The clothes would be really cool, too, with all the colors, the bell-bottoms, etc. Remember, the target age for the books and dolls are 8-12 year olds, so for them the 1960s are just as historic and the 1860s.
Again IMO.
