I'd like to learn some of this lingo. I was quite impressed by the accuracy of that drum fill that you immitated with gibberish off of your studio video clip. It went something like "da-datch datch dago be-ohhhh goughsssh baaaah"...
Just how can I learn this mystical talent? Maybe it's time for a new HOD lesson...

I am digging the new stuff! You got a killer snare sound going on in that video clip, what are you using? In fact, all of those recording customs are singing like crazy! The tones you are getting sound like late 80's/early 90's RC's which IMO are some of the best drums ever made. Also, I am especially digging the metric modulation teasers on that vid. That stuff is so much fun to play.
Anyway, good stuff and I can't wait to hear the final product.

The snare is a Dunnet Titanium, with wood interior hoops. You're right about the Yamahas; Recording customs purchased in the late 80's. I was enjoying the sound of my drums today at rehearsal, and got a compliment on them at a bar in Santa Monica recently as well from the sound guy.
I've always been a fan of the singing drum stuff. Sometimes I find myself doing it and suddenly realize there are non-musicians around who must think I'm nuts.

"Rrrroll your R's" from hi-to-lo pitch & alternate between increasing & decreasing the volume [dynamics] for those Boomer/TBoz down-the-toms fills...& back up again...[same for those 80s metal-gtr shredfest scales/arpeggios, except use "L's"]... ;cp

Not to be a "Jazz Nazi" regarding the official "language" of Jazz, but I think Steve actually pronounced it as

Just watched the new greg Bissonett DVD and it is GREAT!!! Lot's of those kinda outakes!! You gotta see him do his Rodney (RIP) impersonation and his Vaudvillian "schtick".
