Pictures, pictures!!! I've been looking for a copper bread box or one of those boxes that hold wax paper, saran wrap, etc. I'd also love to see pictures of the Mastiffs.
i don't remember how to post pictures.
Lori,
I come across those old kitchen dispensers that hold the wax paper, tin foil and saran a lot at garage sales. Let me know what type of finish you're looking for and if I see one at my next hunt I'll pick it up for you. The prices range between $2.00 up to 15.00

I love the idea of copper or a chrome. Let me know what you find, the price sounds right. Thanks so much.
I am truly blessed, we now have 3 Great Danes in our house (one is a rescue foster) and none of them are counter surfers!
Yes yes... pics of the mastiffs, please!
Here are Lowracer's instructions:
I for one really like to see images posted and lots of 'em. Tell us you got a new oven, that's great, but without a picture we're left to imagine what it must look like. Got a rare accessory and you're having trouble describing it, well post a photo and let the picture do the talking. For newbies to the forums uploading pictures can seem to be a challenge, so I've written it out step by step. Hope this helps!
0) Step ZERO. Every good computer geek always starts out a help file with step zero. For this step, use a digital camera and photo software to create and edit your image. Be sure to make it the right kind of image and the right size. For this board, that is a JPEG (.JPG) formatted picture file, and a size of around 400x300 pixels. Your digital camera probably produces a file around 3000x2000 pixels. Be considerate and cut it down to a manageable size first.
1) Upload the image to get it hosted on the internet somewhere. I will demonstrate by using www.imageshack.us, it's the easiest. You can also use flickr or any other site that lets you upload images.
2) Navigate your browser to http://www.imageshack.us/ Any modern browser will
do. I prefer Firefox.
3) Click on the Browse button.
4) Select the picture from your hard drive that you want to upload.
5) Click on the HOST IT button.
6) After the image uploads, you'll see a new page, down near the bottom of that page is the URL you will need for the next step, it says Direct Link to Image. Copy that URL to the clipboard.
7) Go to hostboard, enter a new topic or reply to a topic to get the editor box.
8) Look just below the editor box you'll see a section with rectangular buttons, in the lower right of that panel of buttons is one marked IMAGE. Click it. You'll get a prompt asking you to enter the URL for your image.
9) Paste the URL you copied in step 5. Click OK.
10) Click the Add New Topic button and you should see your new topic or reply with your image displayed right inside your post.
11) A mistake that many newbies (and old-timers alike) make is to paste in a URL that is not of a PICTURE. Sites like Flickr will often take you to a page that has the image on it, but there's more than the image on the page. There's some text, some website identification, etc., plus the image. You need to make sure that you have the URL for ONLY the image. You can do this by right-clicking (option-clicking on mac) on the image, and selecting View Image. The resulting web page will be ONLY the image, and you can use that URL as described above.
12) Let's see those images!
I got a chrome breadbox I was really proud of at a white elephant sale a few years ago for $3. It was for my sister's 1950s bungalow kitchen, which is chrome and cobalt blue (minus the stained commercial carpet installed by the PO). (well, it wasn't really for her, I coveted it but at the time we were in one of a series of temporary housing and it would be sad to see that cool design in a ******* box kitchen) I chided her for putting it in the basement, so it's back up in the kitchen, on top of the fridge with her dh's snacks in it. Nothing like a big bag of fritos to screw with your retro ambiance.
I just looked at a vintage universal in University Heights and the new homeowner pointed out the copper breadbox next to it. I'm not into copper, trying to stay more late 30s-40s, but I still have her number if you want me to ring her up. I feel bad, I think she was sure I was going to buy the stove from her but then I found this site and took a vow to get a chambers, and not bother with restoring something else which I could never truly be in love with. Besides, I think the house was remodelled after the stove was moved to the basement. Not sure she'll be able to get it out of there.
whoops! I am just learning whose avatar is whos and what name goes with the post. I was thinking it was a fellow Buckeye that was ISO the bread box, now it looks liek a texan, actually. So since it would need to be shipped, I could just pass along her contact info. Erin
ps why is the generic term for saltines and ritz sancks being asterisk-ed out? (new to hostboard but into yahoo)

lkeriegrl,
There does not always seem to be a logicial reason for some words being edited out of our posts. It just keeps us entertained. Yes, I am in Texas so there would be shipping. You can send me the information at , and I'd love to get in touch with her. Thanks for thinking of me, even if I am a Texan.
