My Wife And I both like to cook, But we get stuck in a rut cooking the same thing too often. We mentioned this to a couple ladies at church and one of them gave us this great recipe.
It is called Hungarian Porkchops.
5 center cut porkchops
1 med to large onion
1/4 to 1/2 cup sliced bananna peppers (canned or fresh)
1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
3 tbs oil
Salt & pepper to taste
1 cup water
in skilliet, brown pork chops in oil. (They will not be cooked through.) Add onions, peppers, water, tomatoes, Salt, & Pepper.
Cover and simmer on low heat until pork chops are tender. (depending on thickness of porkchops, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours)
This is really good served over Mashed potatos or pasta.

that recipe works well in a crock pot too... then serve over rice for a change of pace.

darn these birds areeverywhere...I have made a dish almost like that with rice...sort of a spanish rice and pork chop deal...sounds good...right now I am doing my summer canning..put up tomatos, green beans, blueberry jam..going to make squash relish tomorrow...yum
-
Mmmmmm That sure sounds good Miz Mum. I've never had blueberry jam, My wife makes a delishious strawberry freezer Jam.
I've never heard of squash relish, Is it sweet? My mother use to make something called Chow Chow that I loved, unfortunatley she was one of those hillbilly ladies who never wrote a recipe down.

I love chow chow YUM!!! Mummy D I want some jam...I love you jams...I have been craving Blueberries something awful lately. Remember all all those huge blueberreis we picked at the Tow river that summer...not to mention the blackberries bushes scratchin the hell outta us...oh that was awesome!!!
-
I haven't eaten blueberries very often, I don't think they grow in our Area. The only time I had fresh ones, was when I visited My Sister in Michigan.
It is getting harder & harder to find Blackberry bushes around our area. The farmers have cleaned their fence rows or the county uses weed killers along the country roads where they use to grow.
Growing up I remember fighting bumble bees, snakes, chiggers and mosquitios, trying to pick blackberries. But it was worth it, My Mom would make a four layer blackberry cobbler, MMMmmm Topped off by a scoop of homemade vanillia ice cream...Darn, I'm drooling all over my keyboard.

Damn Rog now I am drooling too!!!

good summer squash soup recipe
saute a med onion and about 5 yellow squash small to medium..in a tblsp of butter
boil two med potatos
have on hand a can of chicken browth
some cream or milk
salt and pepper to taste
when the squash and onion mixture is tender and the potatos are done, pour them into a blender with half the can of broth. Blend until smooth.
Pour the mixture back into a pot with the rest of the can of broth and some milk or cream. usually about half a cup..use your taste...I like to sprinkle a little dab of nutmeg on top. It is yummy..

Did robin every make her califlower soup for you Mum?
Oh I love that soup and I bet I could remember the recipe by heart UMMM lets see
clean one head of califlower and break into pieces and
boil in two 16 oz cans of chicken broth and some chopped onion until soft About 15 minutes.
Strain the mixture BUT keep the broth. Take 2/3 of the califlower and blend in food precessor or blender til smooth. Using the same pot you started with melt a stick of butter and add enough flour to make roux...then add a 8oz container of whipping cream and 1-2 cups of milk (this depends on how thick you want your soup... stir this frequently and then add 8 (or more oz) I like 12oz of grated fontina cheese. let that melt up nicely and put the reserved chicken broth and califlower smoothy mix to the pot. Add Salt and pepper to taste and Nutmeg...I also like a little ginger. Lastly add the reamining 1/3 chunky pieces of califlower. Simmer shortly and YUM!!!
Great with baget bread for dipping!!

Mm, sounds great. All of it. Wish I could share a recipe, but the only thing I know how to do is macaroni. And even that fails sometimes.
In Chicago I tried to make it with spam, figuring it was the same stuff as our spam. But it wasn't even remotely like it. So salty!
Like your mayonaise! UGH, it's so disgusting! No wonder the thought of putting it on fries grosses you out.
Anyway... No recipes. But I'll try some of yours. I like porkchops. And tomatoes.
