del sol cabin bars

I?m on team sol cal and wanted to extend this offer to team sol Washington.

Same as the previously named "harness bars" Cabin bar is what it will be called now. I have new ones made which are silver 1 3/4" (1/4'' thicker than the last) (black 1 1/2''). they are all very strong bars designed to stabilize the car's twist in turns, the bar mounts behind the seats at the top seat belt bolt locations. they can also be used as a harness bar just as any of the other del sol "harness bars" at this bolt location can (i don't think any of them are track permitted) i have sold a bunch of these and everyone i have talked to are happy with fitment. if there is still a demand on this site let me know if you are interested. These are rare to see sold and i don't know if I?ll be making any more soon. 110.00 for the new thicker bars (all fit perfect). This price do not include the 20.00 shipping cost. i'm curious as to how well they hold up and how practical it is to mount the bar at that specific location??? Whats your take on it Geo?

Im all for stiffening up the suspension on any car. but this bar, i would say, would only be good for an interior stripped autocrossing delSol. I dont want to look in my rear view mirror and have a bar going through my line of sight. It also looks like you have to cut away at your interior, thanks, but no thanks for me. go with a rear upper strut brace, that will do more for your Sol. I honestly dont think this thing would have an affect on chassis rigidness. and if it does,I think it would be very minimal.

This is how i kept my panel in place. Other people have done it this way too. as far as blocking sight, it's not as bad as you might think. as far as chassis rigidness, i have 100% positive feedback that the car shows improvment in hard turns.

I can make something like this myself for alot cheaper so if anyone would like me to make one for alot cheaper just buy the materials and i can weld it for you.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don't know how much it would add to stiffening the body at that point on the car, if at all (a full roll cage would do that), but you might want to use/look into it as a harness bar if you installed aftermarket racing seats for shoulder/lap belts attaching point/s (one of our members did just that with his car, same type of bar).

I have to agree with Daniel, you are going to lose some 'line-of-sight' with it installed back there.

i'm not ganna have to worry about installing any aftermarket racing seats. I'm plannin on throwing in some S2k Seats. But the same seat belt harness i would like. I guess i dont like where the bar sits all too much, makes it not so "clean" lookin IMO. For the price though, i'd say its pretty good. HmMmM i wonder how much it would cost me to put a cage together for the sol, through the trunk(while still having a fully functional trunklid, and through the rear glass(while still having this fully functional as well).

A cagefor the sol i wouldn't imagine would cost anymore than it would for any other car. Most cages that i've heard of, are in the $700 range give or take.I have indeed seen a sol with the bars going through the trunk and believe(but dont recall) the trunk was still fully functional. This was the red drag sol from PA. His set up is almost EXACTLY the way i want my sol to be set up, i just want my cage to be more built to be track orienated instead of drag. I dont see how the trunk wouldn't still fully function, all it would be is...cutting 2 long inlets/holes in the trunklid with enough room for the trunklid to move up and down.
