I would have loved to go, but my colleague put in his leave request for this time already. He and his partner will be dancing at the Gay Games in Chicago, which are at the same time.

I do hope they'll bring home a medal at least. The last time in Sydney they won a gold medal in the standard dancing for their age category.
For those of you who have been there...is it really expensive (So I should start saving now)?I really wanted to go this year but DH just had surgery & I had to take care of him.
Excellent post! I live in CA. but would love to combine a vactaion and make this sale!!!
I had some questions about the sale too. I am hoping to go to the sale next year and I know that most of the pieces are returns and seconds, but I was just wondering are the problems with the items usually pretty noticable? When will the tickets go on sale? Do they go on sale at a certain time of the day? Just a bit curious so I'm prepared. And also is this the kind of sale that even though the prices are very good(from what I have seen), should we probably plan on taking up a substantial amount of money? Is it the kind of sale you will want to spend tons at? I just want to be prepared! Thanks!
Woo-hoo! Marked the date on my calendar! I've already got lists of what to buy, what to bring, etc. We had a hot, miserable time this year but now it's been long enough ago that I can look back and laugh at it. I also know what to expect for next year and will be much more prepared (ie more space for stuff! )
See ya there!
To those of you who had some questions about the sale:
18" Dolls are $50, furniture is maybe 1/2 price, some even less (Kit's trunk was $60 I think this year). I got Addy's desk for $40-45, Kit's table and chairs for $30-40 and Josefina's table and chairs for $15. Wow, I'm already foregetting exactly how much stuff cost- but you get the idea.
Limited edition dolls (Kailee) was $85 I think.
They had lots of books for $1-3 each.
Totalled I spent about $250, and I had a 9:15 ticket. The earlier your ticket, the more stuff, the more you may want to spend.
I bought 1 doll (Kirsten), 4 pieces of furniture, some accessories and about 15 books.
What was wrong? Kirsten's braids were not "perfect" they had been re-braided, but done well. Also her hair ribbons weren't original. The furniture- Addy's desk was a little unglued in one spot, there were a few nicks in Josefina's table. I haven't really found anything wrong with Kit's desk, so it must be very minor, and the table had a very small "ding" in the top. The accessories I bought were Kirsten's school bag for $5, missing the ruler and one other thing. I also bought some Kirsten dishes-an incomplete set for I think $8. There was nothing wrong with any of the books that I could see- they were just the old cover.
If you are a "perfectionist" and an adult collector who is very picky- I wouldn't really recommend the sale, unless you were very careful to look everything over very closely. If you want stuff to play with or for your kids to play with- go for it! My 2 DDs never would have gotten the furniture at full price and they are enjoying it immensely now!
If you have more questions, I would suggest looking back at the posts from the end of July where every one talked about the sale and what they bought. Rumor has it some spend over $1000. My sister who went with me spent about $150.
Hope this helps, feel free to PM me with any questions. I found this board when I was looking for information on the sale, and would love to help someone out like I was helped!
Jo

Hey thanks for answering my questions. It gives me a good idea of what I'm in for. Now just to save up for the trip. The best part is it's on my birthday next year! What a great birthday!
This birthday was great too because I went to AGPC for the first time. So next year we're gonna stop in Chicago for a few days and of course go to the store , then it's up to the MCM for my birthday. It's a year from now but I am so excited.
