I shouldn't have done that... and a question

I just placed ANOTHER order. I had been doing so well not going on ebay or online shopping.

I got Kit's Tree House Dress and Book, Josefina's Weaving Outfit and Book, Addy's Striped Dress (is that what it is called?) and Book, Kirsten's Winter Skirt and Blouse, Samantha's Lawn Shoes and an AG Hairbrush.

I used the 10% code (145358) and saved shipping. I also saved a penny because kit's tree house is on sale, and bundled with the outfit it is $2, but seperate it is $1.99.

I should have called through CS and got a replacement mob cap and winter mittens if they are available, but I was full on this shipping level anyway.

Maybe I will have hit the critical mass where I don't need to order new dresses for awhile.

I did manage to resist anything Felicity/Elizabeth, because I am sure those will be around awhile and I want to get in on a later batch.

I am just so glad I don't collect accessories.

So my question- I have never brushed my dolls hair. Will this brush be good for their wigs? Will it actually help to get the dolls hair to look less matted if I do brush it? (I'm just thinking of Felicity and Sam, maybe Kit. Everyone else's hair stays braided.)

You should definitely brush their hair. I actually think it needs to be brushed occasionally. The key is to start from the ends and work your way up. A light water spritz is helpful.

Yes burshing is a good thing.

I've never spritz the hair when I brush it, does it really help? I have the set with the curlers and spritzer. I might have to try this tonight.

I think the spritzing helps if the hair is a bit dry and at all tangled. If the doll's hair is in perfect condition, you don't really need to do it. I do think spritzing is a must when braiding. My daughter kept her Molly's hair in the original braids for a couple of years but began to get frustrated when the braids starting looking messy. I re-did Molly's braids and they looked all right. I then read in my daughter's Doll Hair book (AG) to spritz hair when braiding. I re-did Molly's braids again, spritzing liberally, and they looked just like they did when she was new.

Yes, congratulations on your order. I think I am going to be an accessories type of collector. Help! I love Josefina and all her accessories. Will wait and see. The other dolls I collect don't have accessories so.....

We spritz our dolls' hair frequently, especially in the winter when the heater is running. We have a humidifier but when my hair/skin is dry, the dolls get a mist. Kind of like when I'm cold, I put a blanket on the baby. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Aw, that's cute. When I'm cold, I put the dolls into fleece outfits -- don't have a baby, but I'm sure I'd do the same thing if I did.

I took Gina to the doll hair salon at AGPNY once and part of the instructions you get for your $25 says to spritz the doll's hair whenever you handle it. I don't do that if I'm just brushing but I always set their hair wet -- that is, sprayed well.

For long-haired dolls, I find it helpful to use those hair clippie things (the ones with teeth -- I'm old, my mind is going) to hold sections of hair out of the way. Hair that hasn't been brushed out gets clipped up on top of the head. Sections that are finished get clipped near the end of the hair to keep them from tangling into the next section. Be very gentle and start at the ends, working your way up towards the scalp. For hard tangled knots, it's better to snip off the knot after you've isolated it than it is to pull hard on the knot and pull out several strands!

I find brushing someone else's hair very soothing, so enjoy! (I am only allowed to brush Thorfinn in the morning -- his terms, not mine.)

P.S. Josefina's weaving outfit is one of my favorites!

Congrats on your order! I agree with the posts above that spritzing when combing doll hair can literally make all the difference in the world. A doll salon woman at AGP once told me that they'd been trying to get AG to print that info on a little card that comes with the dolls, but obviously that hasn't been done yet. It can do miracles though!
