My problem is that my hands are so dry, sticks without some lacquer on them are slippery. And that gorilla snot smells horrible.
So, I wrap a little duct tape on my sticks where I grip them. The plastic coating works perfectly for me.

Over years i tested Vater grip (give blister), Ahead grip (work great but no natural contact with the wood of the stick and stick get louder for rebound) , H3 Drum Stick Wax (i know it work for many but for me it work only for a moment, after 30 min don't worked anymore) and finally i give a try to Gorilla Snot (didn't test before because i thought a fancy name like that can't have good result) and WOWWW it really work perfect !! You need to apply just a LITTLE of it on you finger and thumb and wait 30 sec (if you have a gooey sensation it's because you used too much product, remove slightly with a towel some of the product) , in fact you fell nothing in you hand until you start sweat, a reaction appear then and you fell the stick can't slip from you hand ( No bad sensation at all )

I remember "gorilla snot" from when I first started on drums... though I have never tried the stuff.....so do you have to wash your ends after you play?
As you can see in my pic, I prefer to use my own snot. That pic was taken prior to a gig....I was warming up and lubing down.

-Laquered sticks such as Regal Tip
-Technique
Funny though, cause I find that when my hands get sweaty I can hold the sticks BETTER, and I just use Vic Firth 5B's!

You knew it since a while but never tested it, i guess it's like many because you don't trust a product with this fancy name or you don't have slipping stick problem ?
