TOP HEADLINE: Ag dolls donated to day care, and abused!

My friend saw some AG dolls at a garage sale. She decided to go back the next day to buy them. When she went back, they were sold to a lady who would donate them to the day care she worked at. So she bought what was left: about 5 pieces of clothing, and a knock-off battat american girl doll, a battat bed, and 2 knock-off chairs.

So, my friend tells me this story (above).
Then I remember that my little sister told me that they had american girl dolls at her day care. Of course I did not believe her. Who would donate $87.00 dolls to a daycare?
And my little sister says that 2 girls fought over one and ripped it's arm off, and they HOT GLUED IT BACK ON.
So I go to the day care when my sis is there and see 2 poor AG dolls. Samantha and an AGT on little beaten up wooden beds. Sam was in just the apron from her play outfit! Both were sadly abused! It made me want to just take them home and give them some TLC. How could cute little kids ruin something so beautiful, not to mention expensive!

Oh, that's TERRIBLE!! I'd probably want to take them home, too!

Yeah, there is a specific Kirsten doll on ebay right now that is pretty beat up, needs TLC.. anyone see her? hehe
Id love to buy her to fix her up!

That is horrible. I don't think AG dolls are for young kids. They specifically said for age 8+. Older kids can take better care of dolls. I wouldn't donate any expensive dolls to a day care.

The only dolls that I would donate to my preschool class are bitty babies. I actually have A New Baby that I was going to give to kids in my class for a week when their parents were expecting a new sibling. Problem is, unlike last year, there are no parents expecting. *grins* We had about 6 or 7 with new babies in the family last year.

My kids in my class are 2 and a half. Sometimes they do well with toys-other times, not so well.

Kids can be brutal. I worked in a pediatricians office, and you would be surprised at how often we had to buy new toys and books, and how much money we spent on them! In addition to people stealing anything semi-neat (which happens all of the time) little kids will sit in the waiting room, tearing pages out of the very nice books we just bought the day before--and their parents are sitting right next to them watching them do it! Grr. It made it so we couldn't afford to get good books for the waiting room, just whatever we found on the sale table. It really upsets me that some parents don't teach their kids basic care and respect.

Here's an idea... could you buy a doll or two from WalMart and then ask the daycare owner if you could have the AG dolls? Maybe with a trip to the hospital or some fixing at home, they would be beautiful again. I know it would break my heart to see any AG being mistreated... Maybe they are waiting for a hero to rescue them from the daycare [img]smile.gif[/img]

The last time I was at our library's used book sale, there were 2 ladies with a tremendous amount of children's books they were buying, boxes and boxes. They were buying them for a daycare and said that the books wouldn't last a month. At least they got their books very inexpensive-most were 25 cents. Maybe your book-buyer could look for a similar type sale.
