Can you help me find a sol?

Hey well guys, i figured out what im gonna do car wise. I want to find a sol, with under 100k miles, thats either a vtec model or has a engine swap. Then after 6 months or so, buy a 89-94 240sx project car for under 2.5k that will give me some experience on cars. If any of you could help me find a sol, under 12 grand, and with under 100k miles and either a vtec model or has a engine swap, it would be greatly appreciated. I picked up that grassroots mag on the del sol buyers guide, and it inspired me to get a sol, and they've got some good info in there. Thanks alot! And i hope to join this great family soon!

I would suggest picking up one that i seen on craigs list it has low mile and it looks like its already been moded pretty good its going for $5000 it looks like its in great shape and it even was painted gunmetal. it wont last long so check it out now.

you have 12 grand to play with and you plan on getting a cheaper car later??? The more logical thing to me would be to just fo with the 240 route and just work from there. Just cause you have a 240...doens't mean you have to go balls out the minute you buy the car. if you are going to only keep a sol for 6 months(and i doubt thats as long as you will end up keeping it...you'll fall in love..trust me..), you might as well just start with the 240 to help with driving experience. just keep the car stock for the majority. or if you MUST mod it, just mod the suspension and keep the motor bone stock but running in perfect condition. bring that sucker to track days and get some REAL driving experience. when you get better, add more power slowly as you get better.

otherwise...plan on stickin with the sol for a while and modding that as you please. as far as finding one...

if you cant find anything from those places at this moment...then just wait onit and check up on the websites daily. ALWAYS check www.kbb.com for acurate value of the car you are interested in purchasing so you dont get dicked by the people that charge a damn premium for cars here in washington. you will come accross people wanting 5k for a 93 del sol s with 160k on the clock. be patient, and shop smartly

Yeah why waste your money with a crappy del slow...get something fast and just dont drive too fast...nissan 300Z 240SX...take a pick...you dont want a del sol in washington state...when it rains the roof leaks...and if youre a big guy, just dont be clastrophobic cause the cabin is small...trust me...you dont want a del sol...with 12K limit you can get a wayyy better car..

wow...for one...it was sols from 93-94 that got the seals that weren'n't all that great. they improved them in 95 and up. thats why you dont have any problems. nice try though. Two...yes seals will hold their own providing that the owner of the car takes care of them and lubes them properly at an appropriate interval. Our cars are 10+ years old and often times habe more than one owner. Who knows if ANY of those owners knew swuate about taking care of seals let alone the rest of the car. But lets imagine that we have a del sol that was in perfect running condition mechanically and the body was absolutely straight. Downside is that it pored more water in the cabin than it did rain....seats get soaked and completely trashed...cabin smells like old water or maybe something else unsatisfying. remember, underneath the carpet is metal, let the water sit long enough and you WILL get rust underneath. Now...lets think about how much it;ll cost to get the seals replaced...I believe Geo said it was about $200 somethin for parts alone. I have no clue how long it takes for a guy at the dealership to replace all the seals but most honda dealerships charge $95/hr now. think about it in that aspect.

Hey! If you keep your seals in order they won't leak. Mine don't and i have a 95'. You would judge a car on seals? That pathetic. Just being honest. Kyle...lemmy know when you need help. I dont see why yours all dissin on a sol, when you all own them. Im not talking about selling the sol once i get the 240. The 240s gonna be a project car, something i can learn on with, and im keeping the del sol even if the 240s got more mods on it. I just want the del sol now, cause im not going to be seen driving a ugly pos 240sx around town, buti will tell you, IM NOT GOING TO SELL THE SOL ONCE I GET THE 240 OR BERFORE IT! Im sorry if ive pissed some of you off in the past, but get over it. No im not gonna delete my account, cause i am going to buy a sol. This was just to clarify whats his names comment about me selling it once the get the 240.

I only got this peice of crap because that was the only decent car i can find for around 4K. Trust me, when i get a better job and or win the lottery, i will be upgrading to something much better like an s2k, sti, or g35 coupe, and the sol can goto the graveyard...

Im just telling you...dont make the same mistake we all made...

Furthermore the Sol is a death trap...if you want a lowered coffin on wheels, then the sol is the way to go...when you roll, or wreck they car...they can just bury the entire car with you in it...saves money and wood on a coffin.

And seriously...what other convertible do you have to regularly maintain the seals? I never heard of old T-tops leaking as bad as the sol...

Trust me...if i were you i would delete your sol account and move on to a better car and go join their forum...del slow is not what you want...

Think about it...if it was such a great car like all the others claim...why did they discontinue it? And you dont see Honda in a hurry to bring back the brand...
