When did Vinnie become a Christian, and what prompted him to do this? Did this happen after he left the Sting gig?

actually, I think AnnD turned him onto it, she said it would help him understand the importance of keeping his nails trimmed and keeping up with his laundry

If I recollect it was around 97 and I am making this narrowed down as I can. His statement was I have tried alot of things and looked for many things to bring peace and meaning and stability in my life. He had tried to make sense of many circumstances in his life and life in general and he found these answers in the message of the Gospel of Christ. There is more to it obviously but that is the jist of it.

i understand that his "cleaning up (substantial drug habits)" and "finding god" are deeply linked.

I personally never heard Vinnie mention anything about substance abuse when I heard him share his about his Faith in Christ. Not saying that he did not have one, but he made more general statements centering on not only finding freedom from his problems but why he got there in the first place and why he was put on this earth and what he was called to do and unto whom, I heard Him talk about his Faith not being a quick fix to every hard situation(obviously certain problems as addiction you need to be freedom from) but to be able to walk through troubles and grow and mature in the process for that is a main theme of following Christ, He is not there to be a protective shield neccessarily for every challenge that comes your way but is a source of strength and wisdom and hope as we are tried and tested for that is how we grow, through adversity. Of course their is more to it than just that but that is what I have personally heard from him.

Maybe, the passing of Vinnie's friend, Jeff Porcaro, might have been one reason why he turned his life over to Christ.

Actually Vinnie came to Jesus after his divorce, and that was during the all the Sting work, one day he was in the session studio along with Alex Acuna and Abe Laboriel Sr. and then they present to Vinnie the salvation plan and he accepted, and acctually he is in the proccess of being more like him, he is a great man and a great christian too, I have a friend here in P.R. that make a record with him, he's a producer and drummer, and he told me that that the love that he has for Jesus is so contagious, it's great!!!!

Gam, with all due respect, if you claim to be a believer, please follow through with your word and fulfill the trade obligations you've made with others in this forum. There are no excuses regarding this informal contract. Just do it or bow out of here.
Don't even respond to this post, just make right the trades that have caused such a rift between you and others, especially if they traded with you in expectation of receiving goods. Speaking of how great the Lord is with this gap makes your words hard to hear.

Vinnie's crossroad decision happenned in March 1998 in Switzerland, almost two years after his divorce. Like anyone else's life, lots of various factors came into play...
