Beat displacement

This quote is from today's Independent, and made me laugh out loud. It's from a feature on the recent poll taken by BBC Radio 2 to establish which was the best year for music from the last 6 decades ( 1967 was the winner):

Just don't try that with Vince, Weckl, Dennis, or Virg; for it would have meant that it was deliberate displacement...the arm-grab thing, that is...then again, maybe the 10 Yrs Aft guy meant to do it...& the other muso's just didn't "get it"... [img]wink.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Just remember...Drumfucius say: a beat synchopated-accent-"displacement" on a top-40 dance gig for anything longer than a fill towards the end of a measure or 2 is akin to flatus in a diver's helmet [or in church]...warning - "white peeps dancing!" [j/k]...hence the name "top-farty" gig...

Ahem. I think perhaps Drumfucious he mean "flatus" actually. I'm not entirely sure how exactly you could do the other thing in a diver's helmet.

I've seriously had musicians (no drummers) saying to me that Ginger Baker was playing totally wrong in "Sunshine of your love" because of the strong 1 & 3 beat. Morons....
