Checking out some bands I like on Amazon every once in a while to see if there are new releases and just now I checked on Zodiac MIndwarp and the Love REaction and see they have released a brand new record.
Does anyone have it? Is it any good?
Like most people I preffer Tattooed Beat Messiah and the first EP, but I am into all the Zodiac records, or parts of them at least.
I really hated I Am Rock though... The thing with Zodiac for me was always the clever lyrics and it seemed no matter if the album was rock (Tattooed....), Pop (Hoodlum Thunder) or metal (one more knife) he always had those great lyrics.
With I Am Rock I think he delivered lyrics that were unimaginative and boring at best, so I kinda lost interesst.
But now I'm curious again. Any info would be cool!
I also see that a live cd and dvd combo has been released with clips from the 80's titled Pandoras grizzly handbag. Is this good?

What??? No Zody fans here?
-
I have the new one. I guess by a lack of mentioning it is a way of saying what I think of it. I love "Tattooed Beat" but I hated (and I can't stress how much I hated) "My Life Story".
This new one is somewhere inbetween. For me, Zody creeps me out. On TBM his lyrics were clever and still drove the point home that he was an oversexed guy. Everything after that I have heard from Zed has been downright creepy disgusting XXX Porn, basically. Some of his lyrics are downright disgusting. Bordering on GG Allin material almost.
Musically this one is decent. If you are a fan of Zodiac, all of his stuff, you will love it. If you are a fan like me, where you only like the one, buy with caution. It doesn't carry the fun and party of TBM, but musically it isn't bad. It's just not "fun".

He he, I guess I should have taken the lack of response as an answer too then:-)))
From your description this sounds an awful lot like I Am Rock to me. Musically that wasn't bad either.... not great, but not really bad either, but lyrically it sucked.
I still think he had some semi-clever stuff on My Life Story + I liked the ballad a lot, but by IAR he was totally off.
Thanks for the info I doubt I'll buy it at all then.
Does anyone know anything about the CD/DVD combo I asked about here?
That sounds very interessting at least

i really liked the tattooed beat messiah album. still love it and listen to it quite often. since i liked so much the songs i read the lyrics and they added a plus to the music with their "macho but ironic" attitude.
then i lost interest cd after cd:i
don't like a single song out of the following albums and this includes also those in the latest cd. the best of them are "not so bad" imho. and since i don't like the music i never listened to the lyrics.
from what i read in this thread i didn't lose much fun
ps:what happened to the guitar riffs and the sing along choruses that made songs like prime mover, backseat education, planet girl etc so irresistable? i want them back!

Personally I liked I Am Rock. I thought it was a return to his hard rock roots, and the lyrics were nasty...I loved it.
Rock Savage on the other hand didn't impress me much. It doesn't have the x-rated quality of I Am Rock, but it doesnt rock near as hard either. It was a big disappointment for me.

I forgot to ask...where did you read about the cd/dvd combo...I havent heard anything about it.
-
I read about it on Amazon.com
Here is the product description:
"Fanclub only live album on CD recorded in London 1986 (approx 40 mins) plus NTSC 2 hour live DVD Featuring tracks from various european TV shows and live concerts in 1986. + 16 page colour booklet."
I'm not so interessted in the CD as I already have the live at Reading CD, but the DVD thing seems really cool. At the English Amazon it's just listed as a CD.
Does anyone know more about this?

Funny, i thought Hoodlum Thunder sounds a LOT like TBM! Same catchy style chorus's and stuff. The last GREAT ZM CD.

I also like that album, but I think it's a bit more pop orientated that TBM.
There seem to be more use of synths in the overall sound + the choruses are, in my ears, not as good as TBM..... less inspired or whatever.
I actually preffer One More Knife to Hoodlum Thunder. There are a few songs at the end of OMK that sounds exactly like something off TBM
