I guess a few of you may have wondered why DP dropped off the planet for a while.
On March 9th my sister died very suddenly of a massive heart attack. Needless to say, this has been a very hard road for my family. For myself, all I can say is I've never been blindsided by a loss in quite this way. My older sister was the reason I got into hard rock as a very young kid, she was the reason I ever learned how to pick up a guitar, tune it and actually make something like music come out of it. She was
my first art teacher, taking a normal kid doing normal kiddie drawings, and showing him how to make those drawings take on proportion, and look better than the average
kid's work. She gave me so much all my years growing up.
We still talked daily and had a blast sending each other weird news articles, odd GIFs and hilarious ebay auctions.
When my brother in law called me that night we sat on the phone together as the EMTs tried to revive her, but she had already left us. He had just returned from dropping their daughter off at a teen church function and found her slumped forward in her chair. She had been plagued with diabetes issues for some years, but seemed to be on the road to recovery. She seemed strong, her attitude was great and we were all feeling good about the way she was progressing. The docs were all very positive
in their outlook. Sadly, they were wrong. I guess her body had enough. My faith tells me she is in a better place, free of all the
problems that ailed her, but I miss her like crazy and I just haven't been able, until now, to get on here and talk. Like an
average bear does, when I'm really hurting I crawl into my cave, isolate, and nurse the wounds. It will be a while before I'm back regularly , as I'm still just working things through. I've still kept up with my collecting to some extent just to keep my head above water, but a loss like this makes it difficult to get on and 'rave
about my latest haul'. I'll get there...in time. I thank God for my beautiful wife and kids who have helped me get through this so I, in turn could be strong for my Mom, my brother in law and niece.
It's nice to be back here, among friends, and I guess this is my first step to try get back to being the person I was before this happened. The person I know my sister would want me to be....

Really, really sorry to hear that sad news......

Damn DP, really really sorry to hear about your loss. I'm very close to my sister - I'd be devastated if I lost her. Deepest condolences.

As we talked when I called to check on you, you know what I am going to say anyway, but say it again I shall.
I am sorry to hear all that had happened and hope you and your Brother-in-law can come back to a state of normalicy even knowing that it is going to be far different from what normal ever was.
You need anything, even to just rant and rave to get somethingo ut of your system - you have my number.

I'm stunned....
When you lose someone that close to you, there really isn't any "getting over" it or "moving on"... part of you is forever shaped by your life with them, and without them.
May you be granted with the inner strength and courage to have a strong, productive life with your loved ones as all of you begin this new chapter.

DP, I can't tell you how very sorry I am to hear this....

Im so sorry to hear this my friend, my best friend just lost his sister to a heart attack about 3 weeks ago also.
Healing from something like this takes time when you're as close as you were.
We'll all meet again one day friend.
