Actual football discussion
Castlewood at J.I. Burton
I think this one has the potential to turn ugly. Burton has too much skill and speed for Castlewood. Not to beat the glorious of the LPD here, but especially in the smaller division, it seems like the tougher LPD schedule helps prepare the LPD playoff teams better. Burton by 35.
Honaker at Powell Valley --Unsure about this one. PV seems to have the ability to be really on or really off. Honaker is kind of underappreciated. I look for PV to win it, but to be a closer game than maybe most expect. PV by 10.
Ervinton at Appalachia --Another game where the LPD experience will benefit. Ervinton has some talent and may be able to stay with Appy. The styles of play seem to be a lot alike. Preparing for the playoffs may be a huge factor in this game. I predict Appy by 21 pulling away late.
Clintwood at Haysi --There is a football game between these 2 schools scheduled. Someone will most likely win, someone will most likely lose. Anything else is either being biased or giving bulletin board material
Re: Actual football discussion
JIB 56 CW 0
Too much for anyone in D1 on this side of the state.
Appy 46 EHS 0
This one just delays the rematch that they want for one more week.
PV 35 HHS 14
Honaker has a big physical team. Ball (I think is the kids name) is a very impressive player. They just don't have the experience or speed to keep up.
Haysi 21 CW 13
CW has improved and it seems that Haysi has taken a step back. Until I see CW play a game without giving up double digit turnovers I'm not convinced they'll win a close one. I hope for CJ Phillips they get the win. He and Glyn R. Phillips have been the two players that I've enjoyed watching the most since my playing days ended. I wish we could keep this kid. Re: Actual football discussion
From a spectator standpoint, which do you think will be the best game to watch Saturday?
Re: Actual football discussion
Re: Actual football discussion
I think so too. If I didn't have kids in school at PV, I would likely go the CW game.
Re: Actual football discussion
I think both PV/Honaker, and the CW/Haysi game will be good games. The best in the area will probably be Graham @ Tazewell.
Re: Actual football discussion
I agree with Strips in Region D All 4 Div2 schools are bunched together without a clear Fav in the bunch howeverf I am starting to think that Haysi probably should be based on the records against teams in the Va Playoffs however Honaker has played 3 AA playoff teams and Clintwood the top #2 seeds in both Div1 and Div2
Haysi is 3-0 (Clintwood#4 W, Honaker#3 W, Ervinton#3(Div1) W)
PV is 2-1 (Norton#1(Div1) L, Clintwood#4 W, Appy#2(Div1) W)
Honaker is 1-3 (Haysi#1 L, Richlands#1(Div3) L, Tazwell#2(Div3 L, Va High#4(Div3) W)
Clintwood is 0-4 (Haysi#1 L, Appy#2(Div1) L, PV#2 L, Norton#1(Div1) L)
Re: Actual football discussion
Clintwood 14, Haysi 13-Clintwood's playing good ball and Haysi will see a different team than the first time around.
Powell Valley 14, Honaker 6-PV ends their drought against the BDD. Come on PV show them what you can do.
Burton 55, Castlewood 0
Appalachia 49, Ervinton 13
I must congratulate Ervinton. I believe Ervinton has gone from 0-10 to 4-6 to 7-3. Either way, that's awesome.
Re: Actual football discussion
Speaking of Ervinton I had heard that there coach MAY be leaving at the end of this year
Re: Actual football discussion
I have heard that as well. Of course the grass will not be greener next year at Ervinton, only the players will be since they graduate almost half of the team.
