Are you all expecting Clemens to salvage your pitching?
It wouldnt be that big of a deal if Boston wasnt so good. The Yanks might be playing for the wild card if they dont get it turned around by the all star break.
NY won't catch Boston more than likely..but they have a chance for the wildcard i think. If they can get their pitchers off the DL, they still have a chance...cuz if ya can get the WC all that matters is October.
No, but I dont think 9.5 game is out of the question, the only reason The Sox have such a lead is injuries to the Yankee staff, right now Beckett is on the DL, Schilling is a car wreck waiting to happen (Just as my boy Clemens may be), Dice-K is off the charts, but again theys a 107 games to go, he is gonna be depended on more than he is ready for IMO. Wakefiled is iffy at best. Papelbon is just otherworldy, like The Sandman once was. Save Papelbon and Beckett (just barely) the Red Sox are a torn muscle or bursitis from being in the same boat as the Yankees, 7 different rookies have started for the Yankees, pitching.
I dont think right now, anyone is eliminated, Id say that if the Yankees were up at this point (which they have been up and Boston has stormed back) its a long season, have to fight the injuy bug.
Youre right, noone is eliminated. The Red Sox are very good but if the Yanks are 10 games back at the all star break, they are going to have to play as good as the 93 Braves did. Thats a tall order to ask for.
Oh, I know that. I just think as of right now. Its hightened concern, its not dire straits or all hope is lost.
F the yankees. After watching last nights game there are two facts that become clear.
One, Shilling and his bloody sock should have retired after they won it all. And two, the yankees still have ALOT of fight left in them. Way way way to early to start counting teams in or out. I'm starting to get worried about the sox honestly, it seems they are already begining to just "coast". Maybe I'm just hoping for a BIG mid season trade?
As far as Arod goes, best player in the AL. Yeah I thought the shoulder he threw 2 nights ago was bush. But I really like the way he plays ball. Would love to see him playin short for the sox, but oh well.
I'm not a Yankee fan, or a Red Sox fan...
But the '78 Yankees were fourteen games down in August to Boston, then surged back to tie.
And then came, as Red Sox fans love to say, Bucky Bleeping Dent, in the AL East playoff.
You guys should know the rest...
Bucky [censored] Dent.
then in 03...Aaron Boone.
