A-rod to opt out...
Alex Rodriguez opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the New York Yankees on Sunday in what appears to be the end of his career with New York.
Agent Scott Boras said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that Rodriguez had made the decision.

They don't need a third baseman.

Re: A-rod to opt out...
They have already said they would give him a record breaking contract and part ownership in the team...they could use a SS. He doesn't have to play third.

Re: A-rod to opt out...
Who has said that? Since Tribune is selling the team, no one can make statements like that.
The Cubs won't be a part of the ARod sweepstakes.

BTW, mighty bush of Fox to devote airtime to this little news item. Yep, Lord knows you can't have a playoff series without discussing GayRod and the Spankees.

Re: A-rod to opt out...
Cubs may sign him to play SS
The ownership thing though is rumor because that isn't allowable under major league baseball rules
I wonder if the Yankees won't come in, big high on Lowell, sign him then make the Sox get into the bidding.

Nope, I'll say it again. The Cubs will not be a part of the GayRod Sweepstakes.

but what is allowable is for them to defer part of the salary and convert it into ownership shares when he retires
