CINCINNATI - Military workers and supporters from across the country joined in memorials Sunday for a slain Army reservist who had become a poignant picture of the war in Iraq after he was captured by insurgents.

Thousands walked past Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin's casket during a daylong visitation at a civic center in Clermont County, east of Cincinnati, where he grew up. Many of them headed to Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds, for an afternoon memorial service.

The crowd occupied the lower portion of the 42,000-seat stadium, behind home plate, stretching from first base to third.

4 years missing, 4000 plus deaths , and still the Iraqis won't fight their own battles. Time to cut the losses. Or build a parking lot. You can't ref a civil war, kill'em all.

God, I hate to throw away the troops. I have sweated one of the guys at works Marine son's , every step of the way. Kickin' in doors in Fallaujah - he would do his friend times as "1" cause they were wetting their pants. Nothing special, just doing his job- but of the 3 friends he brought home to KY on his last leave all 3 were seriously wounded - screw Iraq. Gloves off. This is what I've been saying all along -the government won't turn them loose to fight. These are our kids- they should have never been sent there- BUT since they have, I don't see them being any less important than the pres. Let him get his dead ass to the front if he loves Iraq. It won't take ANY rich person long to get behind a poor one.

And if you are getting the crap beat out of you(which we are, because of policy) why not fire the coach at the half? If we are down 15 to 6 , why go out 30 to 12 , when these are lives, and Bush is history? His own party won't touch him.

if i joined the military i know thats theres a chance i could get sent someplace.......thats what the military is for

when you join you know thats always a possibility and if you dont want to be sent out someplace to fight then you shouldnt have joined in the first place

secondly it isnt somebody elses war.......im not sure how you figure it is
