Does anyone know the penalty for

1st offense of driving on a suspended license in Va?

Virginia Driving on a Revoked or Suspended License is one of the most serious traffic offenses one can be charged with in Virginia second only to Virginia DUI/DWI with a high blood alcohol content. This charge carries a real probability of jail time and most judges in northern Virginia will ask the defendant to secure an attorney if the defendant is unrepresented on the first court appearance.

The maximum penalty for a first offense is a jail sentence of 6 months, a $1,000 fine, and a license suspension for the same period for which it had been previously suspended (or up to 90 days if the suspension was indefinite).

with a lawyer? how much was the fine? what else did they do?

it was a [censored] mess man....three tickets one time...two another...was on probation.....the cop failed to show up in court four times...my lawyer i hired decided to drop out the day he did show up..got stuck with a free lawyer... just got lucky... think the fine was three hundred

It should be to have a "conversation" with R13. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] Can't think of anything worse.

Each offense "garners" a 6 point tally on your driving record if convicted and a trip the the VASAP program.
