Huge loss for UK. CatsPause.com - Kanter Ineligible
Go Bucs.
I wonder if he dont win his appeal what he will do?
he won't win his appeal...and he'll likely train with some pro trainers until the draft in the spring
this should come as no surprise, and seems to be one the NCAA got right...sucks for UK though, they're pretty thin in the frontcourt, but that seems to be a theme across the board for college basketball this year
who are gonna be some of the dominant big men this year drew?
I know Draymond Green at Michigan State should be a threat, Derrick Williams at Arizona is a tough 4, and Trey Thompkins may be the nation's best player but other than that I dunno of any real dominant big guys, maybe some of the young ugys, Sullinger at Ohio State or Patric Young at Florida.
I also believe Georgia will win the SEC over Florida and make a deep tourney run.
Who is your picks for national champ, POY and frosh of the year?
i like Duke as champ, Jacob Pullen for POY and Harrison Barnes for FOY
Maryland is not very good but Jordan Williams is probably the best post player in the ACC.
Perry Jones at Baylor is gonna be pretty good...when Renardo Sidney gets eligible he should be considered top 5...Tobias Harris at UT is a very talented big as well...but he might not even be the best big with the last name "Harris" as Elias Harris out at Gonzaga is one of my favorite players in the country, I really love the way he plays
Zeller and Henson have a chance to be good this year
if I were ranking the bigs this year, I would have them like this
1. JaJuan Johnson, Purdue
2. Perry Jones, Baylor
3. Trey Thompkins, Georgia
4. Renardo Sidney, Miss St
5. Elias Harris, Gonzaga
6. Jared Sullinger, Ohio State
7. Lavoy Allen, Temple
8. Jordan Williams, Maryland
9. Draymond Green, Michigan St
10. Tobias Harris, Tennessee
11. Derrick Williams, Arizona
12. Vernon Macklin, Florida
13. Jeff Allen, Va Tech
14. Kenneth Faried, Morehead St
15. Patric Young, Florida
I think the top 6 are pretty interchangeable, and then numbers 7-11 are the next tier, and then 12-15
of course there will be players throughout the year who go from unknown to one of the better post prospects in the nation...hopefully our own Zeke Marshall will do that, but he's too soft right now, he had a great game last night, but at 7'0 against a Division 3 team, you should have a great game
14.
forgot the last part of your question...
my pick for Nat'l champ is Michigan State, I feel like they have too many weapons in the frontcourt and backcourt
my player of the year is probably Singler, he's gonna deal with all kinds of match-up problems from opposing teams so he could put up big numbers
my freshman of the year, like everyone else, is Harrison Barnes...he's got Evan Turner's skill set with Tyler Hansbrough's work ethic...scary good
I have Mississippi State winning the SEC
I have Miss St, UF, UT, UGA, UK and Vandy all coming out of the SEC
The Kanter situation was a longshot, but whats sad is the situation the NCAA put themselves in. I said this on FB to a friend, as much as I love UK and wanted Kanter there, the NCAA missed the boat. Id say this if he was at UNC, DUKE and UCLA. A pipeline of Euro talent and euro money (which I cant believe the money hungry NCAA doesnt see) outside of the US college basketball isnt very big. Allowing these guys to play in the NCAA would have expanded popularity and talent. Its just a dumb move, but that is just my opinion.
He will be able to keep his scholarship for the rest of the year at UK, so at least that is a good thing if he wants it. He could use the 33k he got from 3 yrs of "pro ball". I mean god knows AAU and prep school dont see money that big.
Anyway, Kanter not playing puts UK's NCAA title hopes daunting. Jones and Knight are legit, they may not be Wall and Cousins, but who is. Knight seems to shoot the ball much much better than Wall and Jones is more versatile. Id like to see both of those guys back next season, but that is a toss up (Barnes and Harris are one and done too). With the 4 coming in next season, along with they guys coming back (if Knight and Jones do stay, I dont see how UK isnt the fav to win it) UK should be in prime status to get the 8th natl title.
I look forward to UK going into UNC, itll be interesting to see how they react in that kind of environment. Should be fun, oh I did got to Rupp for the ETSU game. It was a good time, ETSU doesnt have a bad team at all. Knight, Jones and Lamb were just too much.
Good to see Bledsoe and Wall doing well in the NBA, Cousins, is well he is Big Cuz. Lets hope he keeps it together. Patterson has been moved to the D League, unfortunately he fell into a tough situation. Seems like they are log jammed and the org released a statement that they would rather have him getting minutes in the D league rather than just sitting on the bench. Orton has had some knee issues (which kept him out of sometime in HS) and also some weight issues.
I know ESPN has Michael Gilchrist as the #1 SF, but I think they're STILL missing the boat on him...I think he is the far and away best player in the class, and would've been the best player in THIS class had he been a Sr.
Gilchrist is a Harrison Barnes-type of talent, with a little better ball skills, but not quite the work ethic
it'll also be interesting to see how Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones play in the same frontcourt as they're similar players...Davis will need to play in front of the rim in Calipari's dribble-drive, where I think he can be pretty successful if he adds more weight...I think he could be a guy like Joey Dorsey
