They look a bit rusty...
So do I.:emot14:
$493. plus shipping. So much for dirt cheap. nice to know that our beloved Altec gear seems to be holding its value....
I beg to differ, clean them up, new 288 frams, off the 291 frams on FeePay, and you have a $1200 set of 288-g's for about 600.
You don't feel half price is cheap?
Spoiled I guess. Got mine for $400 with a set of 203Bs. For another ~$250, a trip to GPA for service and phragms, I got a much nicer set of 288-16Bs and a set of 203Bs thrown in for "free"....
Yeah, OK it was from an old friend of mine who wanted some fast cash. But OTOH, most of my local deals on large format stuff have been pretty good, since there are not too many people buying these items locally....I honestly think that vintage Altec equipment at good prices is better than investing in stocks these days. OK, so they won't fit in a safe deposit box, but they are a lot more fun to play with....
:DThere is a WHOLE LOT of difference, 288B are only worth 600. 291B has double the Alnico. You guys just don't understand they ain't the same thing! The 291B will convert to a 288G you can NOT do that with 288B. The comparison of deals is totally invalid.
288G have been called the "poor man's TAD".
