Hi! I recently got into this great big mess of fun, known to y'all as SiP (much to the chagrin of my compatriots: "Isn't it that feminist lesbo comic?" - screw 'em, SiP is better than any friend).
Anyway, I'm unaware if Moore has given any idea as to how long SiP is going to run. I don't care if you guys want to crucify me, but I hope that it ends relatively soon. Let's face it, there's only so much one can do with these characters and story. As much as I'd love to see SiP go on forever, it would be much nicer to see with the whole series wrap up with a bang, rather than a whimper.
I'd be happy to see it go on for a bit, but it would be nice to have an issue number estimate (ie: Cerebus - 300, or Thieves and Kings - 100). It would just comfort me to know that Moore isn't just beating a dead horse, desperately reaching for whatever he can to prevent his income from drying up.
What do y'all think of this? Should I be dragged out and shot for even slightly intoning SiP should be finished? Do you agree that there should be an issue cap of sorts? Do you think I'm just some bloody nut for even thinking of this?

As far as Terry's work goes, he's introduced enough complex characters that he could do mini-series "Tambi" "David" and "Casey's adventures in Caseyland" until the cows come home.
The only other comment I'd like to make is your compatriot's ignorant comment was homphobic and sexist enough without it being repeated here on the very board frequented by people who love SiP.

Look, I'm sorry if the comment offended you. But honestly "I'm" not attacking SiP, and I've found this to be the leading complaint of those who haven't even given SiP a chance. Perhaps you're lucky and have never heard anyone say this, but in a world where comics are almost all capes and skin tight outfits are the norm I find it hard to imagine you haven't.
Barring #39, I find that SiP is really just about Francine and Katchoo, other characters are really detailed and interesting, but it's not their story. I'm not speaking for Mr. Moore here, I've never even met him, but to me this is the story of two people. Not everyone else. They are expanded as needed for the sake of furthing and explaining what happens to Francine or Katchoo. And honestly I'd almost feel cheated if all sorts of mini-series started popping up for other characters, I'd feel as though Moore has sold out. One thing I've found all too true with many cartoonists is that they get too caught up in their characters and forget 1/3 of a story: the ending. After all, if a story goes on too long, it will only end in death, and I'd rather not see the characters that feel almost like friends (come on, you know you feel like they're friends too) die.
So those are my two dimes. Hate me as you will for them.

SIP will have an end. Terry has it all mapped out, and said he gets annoyed when people assume he's just making it up as he goes along. But let's let him set the pace, O.K.? Afterwards we can begin "The Diamond of Time."

While I don't quite think it's hit the point of no return yet, Jimmy does have a point. Personally I hope we get to the wedding *REALLY* soon, because if we don't I'm afraid it'll feel like Terry's trying to milk it for more issues than it's worth. Others have voiced these fears before, just before the last batch of 'crime drama'. So far, I have trust in Terry, but I hope he plans to wrap it up in the next 2 or 3 years, instead of the next 5-10...
Eden, I hope you realize Jimmy deserves some credit, because when his 'compatriots' made their comment, he didn't go 'oh, yeah, huh huh, stupid lesbos' and put it back on the rack. He didn't quote them to hurt anyone, but to stand apart from his 'friends'(I'd look into some new friends tho', if I were you Jimmy http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif) Welcome to the board.

I think there's been an overraction to the "lesbo" comment. What he was repeating IS a common myth by a lot of people that don't read the book. I think it's good that he knows otherwise and has let his friends know that he reads the book. Lets give the newbie a break and a welcome to the board.
As for SIP ending, I like the pace it has and have never felt Terry is "milking" it. Why do people want it to end in 2-3 years? I'm sure Terry is getting to the wedding soon and he'll get us to that point ten years in the future. Is everyone expecting it to end then? If people had never seen the ten years in the future issue, would we all be thinking the series is about to end? This is the story of two people and their lives. Where do you end someone's life? I figure Terry will stop it at a good point.
Just some thoughts.

I think part of the problem may be that those or us that are (or used to be) regular comics readers are used to seeing the stupid serials drag on & on forever (x-men, superman, etc). And it's hard to keep up good, sustained work in a permanently on-going serial.

I'm not intoning that SiP should end anytime too soon, I'm just saying I don't want to end up seeing SiP #415 or some such number, after all, a comic about some geriatric women would really get old real fast.
Perhaps Moore does have a plan for where it will end up, but that's just two points, the problem is how you get there. I'm just concerned that he'll get too hung up on preventing the story from concluding. I'm sure whatever is done will be fun, but let's face it, fun cannot last forever. I just want SiP to remain a respectable comic, not a new Archie.
As for "getting new friends", the predjudices that are all to common towards SiP doesn't mean that the person is poor. It's just a misconception that there can't be a good "chick" comic. That comics can have great characters so long as there's gratuitous violence and catch frases thrown in for good measure.
BEFORE I GET FLAMED: I know SiP is not a "chick" comic, it's just commonly thought as one. So there.

What Branflakes said.
J.J., you should read what Terry said about this subject in a recent interview at http://www.collectortimes.com/Clubhouse2.html

I understand Eden's point. Why post something offensive when no one needs to hear it? I don't think any kind of "support" was garnered for SiP because some one didn't listen to their friends, and I don't think any praise is in order for ignoring friends like that.
btw, Jimmy, I wouldn't take Eden's comment personally. I don't think "hate me as you will" is needed. She called it as she saw it. No harm done.
As for SiP wrapping up, I have to agree with Darth. I'm starting to worry that it might get milked and I prefer the faster paced, a la I Dream Of You plotline.
But I wouldn't mind a spinoff about Tambi or about Freddie, even just to see how it flew. I'm not a comic reader except for SiP so I don't have any idea about the "rules" for a good series. Any info from the comic maniacs out there?
