... how do you all deal with it? (A serious question which led to the following)
Microscope and tweezers?
Axe and ice cream scoop?
Large amounts of alcohol?
Or maybe chocolate?
Obsess on it?
Ignore it?
Bang it (and your head) against the wall?
Write crap?
Read an old favorite?
Fuck it, I'm playing with the dogs.
I apparently chose option eight...
P.S. Hi, guys, did you miss me? Heck, do you remember me..?

Start again, go back to where i was before i was writing (or anything creative) and learn my lessons anew.

I mix the 'large amounts of alcohol' and 'write crap' options. I have the idea that as long as I keep writing, then something halfway decent is bound to come out sometime. It's not always true, of course.

Goof off for a while, then just sit down and write anything I can think of. If I'm stuck on one particular story, I work on something else. Most of the time it helps. Or I just go off and play video games.

Well, I don't know so much for writing, but for painting, I go look at pictures or read comics... some sort of visual stimulant to put me "in the mood" to paint.
Maybe reading would help when it comes to writing?

You might want to check out a book called "Becoming a Writer" by Dorothea Brande. It a good book on the advice of becoming a better writer and there are some exercises in there that are interesting. My favorite is picking out a stranger on the street and imagine where that person is coming from, wehat that person desire is, and what kind of person they love, and so on and on.
But the most important thing to do is to just keep writing, every day or just forget the whole damned thing. Least that's what Henry Miller might say but do we really need to listen to him?

I don't get it, I get writer's overload: where there's too much inside my skull bursting to get out all at once. Of course I don't write regularly at all...
