I haven't seen much conversation about gear here lately. Drumming and drummers yes, but for gear heads like me...I mean you gotta talk drums for a change. I liked the snare topic a while ago. So let's start with this:
I know you've got a lot of cool stuff and I'd like know what exactly you play.
Besides playing with myself, I play Pearl Masters MMX kit and Zildjian cymbals.
20" Bass drum
10", 12", 14" Toms
14"x5?" Sensitone brass snare
14"x4" "J.R" Robinson signature maple snare
13" K/Z Hi-Hat
17" & 16" A custom crash
20" K Pre-Aged dry light ride
20" K Custom ride

Cool thread....here's my gear:
For gigs:

20" A Custom ride, 17" A Custom Projection crash, 14" K Dark Thin crash, 10" K Splash, 19" K china, 14" Platinum Quick Beats
At home:
Premier Astria in Tobacco Sunburst
22, 10, 12, 14ft, 14x5 snare
20" K Custom ride, 15" A Custom crash (actually it's 13 1/4" after I discovered a crack and had it cut down), 11" Oriental Trash splash, 14" Istanbul hats
Other misc pieces used to switch around:
Yamaha 14x5.5" steel snare, Pearl 14x3 FF Maple piccolo, Pearl 13x3 Steel Piccolo, Slingerland 14x6.5 Copper snare
21" Platinum Rock ride, 20" A Medium ride, 15" Sabian AAX china, Bottom Platinum New Beat Hi-Hat

I've been playing my main kit for about 22 years:
Mix of Tama ImperialStar and RoyalStar drums on rack:
22" Kick, 8", 10", 12", 13", 14", 16" toms, but only use the 10", 12", 14", 16"
DW Piccolo toms 8", 10", 12" but not using the 12" right now
Tama Chrome 5x14 snare
Slingerland 8x15 (!) 60s 3 ply snare w/2.3mm hoops
Cymbals
Zildjian 20" A medium ride, 18" A thin crash, 18" K Dark medium thin crash, 20" A high boy china, 15" Azuka no rivet latin crash, 10" Paiste Signature splash, 14" QuickBeat hihats
LP Mambo bell from about 1976.
Also use a Pearl SRX on rack, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22, Yamaha plastic 5x13 snare, 20" K Dry ride, 14" A Custom crash, 15" A Custom Crash, 10" Sabian AAX splash, 13" K dark hihats.
I would LOVE to get a small Gretsch bebop kit for combo gigs...or maybe an old Camco. I wish I had my old Rogers kit still, especially the Dynasonic snare....

I play drums at church mostly. Here is the kit I leave there:
Mapex Saturn Pro: 22x18, 12x9, 16x14, and a Ludwig Supraphonic 14x5 snare
Sabian AA: 13" Fusion Hats, 20" El Sabor Ride, 16" Thin Crash, 18" El Sabor
I have another kit at home for "on the go":
Mapex M Series: 20x16, 12x10 or 10x8, 14x14, and a Venus 14x5 metal snare
Sabian AAX: 14"Dark Crash, 18" Studio Crash
Sabian Pro: 20" Ride
Paiste Alpha: 13" Medium Hats
I have a few other things, but that is what actually gets used. Peace.

well, I don't think I can list it all without crashing the hostboard servers.....
but... the 2 kits are:
yamaha maple custom (vary the sizes depening on what I feel like that day)
8x8 8x10,8x12,9x13,12x14,14x16,16x18 toms.
16x18, 16x20,18x22 kicks. Natural lacquer finish with chrome Maple custom lugs. No I've never played it all at once.
Gretsch Custom from 2000, also Natural lacquer
8x8, 8x10,8x12,12x14,14x16 16x22 kick.

2 1/2 pairs of vinnie sig sticks, the rim of a broken export rack tom, and a picture of a beautiful $5000 gretsch drumset.
can i ask what the point is in sharing gear info? i hate gear junkies. a $800 piccolo snare ain't gonna make your backbeats sound more in the pocket. just freakin go practice and share some cool licks with us like steve.
sorry if i ruined your fun. just had to say it. peace.

drum gear... this is great...
ok here's the thing, i dont have my own yet (i use what they give me on concerts or such)
but ill list my "dream gear" if i were to have one
i want a Gretsch drums w/ 22 kickdrum, 10, 12, 13, 16 and 14x5 snare w/ a piccolo snare as my main...
mounted on Gibraltar hardware... w/ Zildjian A customs cymbals...
now what i normally use in our church is the Mapex M series standard set
using Paiste splash, crash and Zildjian hats and ride...
before i forget, i only use VicFirth sticks 7As, no other sticks for me...
......thats about it....

True a 800 dollar drum won't make the groove feel any better but it may INSPIRE you to play better. Take it from that perspective.
But for guys that play drums for a living, having that special 800 dollar drum might come in handy on a particular session or gig.
Just my opinion.

Shedder, I understand you're not into gear, but why hate us junkies? What did we ever do to you?

A lesson in net etiquette.
"I hate gear junkies"
vs
"I'm not that into gear myself."
Same point, less negativity.
<strike>I hate negative posts.</strike> <=just kidding.
