Yes, I've read "Rebel Without A Crew". But does anyone know about "www.LivingSpiritPictures.com" -- the two filmmakers who made those low budget movies and have done quite well for them selves? They've written a book that's apparently a best seller and is an invaluable guide to making your own film and selling it to the market. "The Guerilla Film Makers Handbook"... Is it a good read? Anyone know about these guys?

apparently thers a new edition thats come out with a CD , dunno whats on the CD
got the first edition its ok but theres better books out there
Case studies bit was interesting though
-
Yeah the books okay, worth having.
I think these two film-makers dropped out of Bournemouth film-school with the slogan 'forget black lesbians in wheelchairs ... lets blow something up'
I could be wrong.
I haven't seen any of their films. I think they need to get a DVD distribution deal.
Personally my favourite book is 'Skywalking', a Lucas biog, but then, I'm biased.

How can you guys be so blase about The Guerilla Film-makers Handbook!?!?!?
Mark, it is the most invaluable book you could ever buy. I have the first edition but will definately be buying the 2nd edition when it comes out. And no I don't work for Living Spirit!

ever heard the phrase to start a small business you got to think like a big business ?
thers a good series of books by Michael wiese Productions the one im reading through at the moment is Directing SHOT by SHOt but they do a whole series covering everything from cinematography to directing Actors to post to pre etc etc, a little bit pricey but lot more informative than Guerrilas Film makers book
oh fogot to say when i was at a screening in london a few weeks ago i heard that there better at writing books then making films
i havent seen there films so thats a second hand comment not my own

I thought the book was crap.
-
definately a must have book if anyone is thinking of making a film, packed full of tips, contacts and ideas, you can probably get it on amazon.
-
the second edition of this book has just been released last week and contains a cd stuck inside the back cover( so make sure its there when you buy it)
The cd is full of screenplay software and production forms ,contracts, music library, time code calculators and stuff to make your own large poster from a normal printer etc
This is a great book to own and is great value compared to other books out there.
P.s. Chance, how is the shot by shot book..ive had my eye on it for some time now , but at 25 pounds its a bit steep ?
-
i paid ?30 for Shot by shot and have to say it was well worth it, a handy little reference to have on the desk when your coming up with shot lists and visualisation
also got some good notes on Continuity styles, Action lines and staging dialog and lots more

Any of you guys impressed with the two filmmakers who wrote this book? How they made a movie in North Wales starring Harrison Ford's brother with backing from EGM and the Prince's Trust. Anyone seen their work? I think it's all very inspiring stuff... Feedback.
