i say this because surely, in all this time,
someone could have easily come up with the
idea to stitch the remaining umbilical cord
into a smooth surface.

With all the body modification going on out there to make people smaller, bigger, firmer , bigger lips, smaller hips etc... I am surprised that no one has decided to have silicone inserted under the skin behind the belly button.. and then it skin grafted over so it is all smooth with no inny or outtie.
