Jeff Porcaro on randy crawfords "You might need
somebody" from the secret combination album.
The most underated/understated porcaro track, imho. theres tons of others but THAT one, kills!

Jake To The Bone off TOTO's epic, Kingdom of Desire, was Jeff Porcaro's last recording with the band. Simon entered on Tambu and the instrumental recording was, Dave's Gone Skiing- also excellent!
To stay with JP, my vote today is the pure groove of Til the End off TOTO's Fahrenheit. Note the Gadd-esq feel at the end of the song. Perfect in the 'less is best' groove. Miles Davis also played on the last cut of this LP with Jeff doing some very nice brush work.
Porcaro's version of 'Jake to the Bone' is superbad. It pushes on the verge of rushing but doesn't.
I'm not one of these less is more guys, but Bonham on 'Kashmir' has that serious sexy groove down cold.
Phil Collins on the Genesis tune 'Down and Out'. Cool groove in five.

Jeff Porcaro's "Out Of Love,"... dunno if it's on an album except Toto's Past to Present... but WOOOOOOOOW!!! the interplay he utilizes between the high-hat and ride cymbal!!! just BEAUTIFUL!!!
