Excellent...
... Except that it requires cookies! I hate cookies.
Any way to keep a session alive without cookies?
It looks great but after visiting the old board for the last 3 years, it may take some time to adjust
The old system also required cookies but I have no idea how they were implemented or were used. Then again that was the problem with the old system as I inherited it, learned the hard way how to manage it and get around what worked and did not work. This coupled with a system that I thought was nice but looked more like a hobbiest led me to develop this new system. Trying to keep some of the original look and feel while freshening it and hopfully a more professional look and feel.
This system took about 2 months to design and code and I am happy to say we do have a full time developer as well as a long list of things that are still being worked on, fixed or will be added.
On top of all that is a much more powerful server that is being built. The current one is nice and works well but now that I have some time under my belt I have a better understanding of what demands the system is placing on the hardware and I think I can lessen the load being placed on it.
Let me guess. You're running this on SuSE?
Hey, how do I get a five star rating?

Current server is ReHat v7.0 running on a server I built myself. The new server is Redhat 7.2 and will be 100% run by a Compaq server and sub system.
As for the rating, well guess someone likes me for a change
Viva RH! We use that heavily as well. I guess the grooving penguin threw me off.
I am a manager of a network department so whether it is Novell, MS, *NIX I had my pick of OS. Decided on Linux for a variety of reasons.
I just noticed this new board censors "naughty" words.
Do we really need that? That was one nice thing with HostBoard. HB didn't censor so you didn't have to get cute with spelling to get your point accross.
Case in point: In another thread toady, I was trying to be humorous by saying (without the dashes), "D-a-m-n Yokomoha for discontinuing AVSi's...". It shows up as "**** Yokohama", which can easily be misinterpreted.
This is one vote against censorship. On HB, profanity almost never got out of hand. Why restrict it here?
(btw: yes I am a member of the ACLU!)
