It is quite an unfortunate death especially at such a festive time but I have noticed that they have missed out any reference to his most recent band "Joe Stummer and The Mescaleros" which was one of the shittest musical ventures fronted by anyone, in any genre.
This is from a post on the Mojo forum;
"Beyond all the great songs and the astonishing gigs, I'll never forget how Joe treated one young fan. After a gig at The Leicester de Mont on the 'Give 'em enough Rope' Tour me and a mate waited around to go backstage and get autographs. Even though there were hundreds waiting, the band made sure everyone got in. The manager, Caroline Coon, was asking everyone to hurry because the band were tired and there were so many people milling around. But in the middle of it all, Joe was patiently teaching a young kid the chords to 'Remote Control', placing the kids fingers on the strings and frets he'd carefully drawn on a fag packet so the lad could take it away with him and not forget."
I found that really moving
Oh gosh that is terribly sweet, what a great man, i dedicate two minutes silence to Joe and his underaged death.
Zal Yanofsky from The Lovin' Spoonful died this weekend, no cunt mentions that do they.

following on from freak-a-chu's post, i cant help thinking poor old joe got the worst of both worlds. rather than burning out he began to fade quite embarrassingly, only to die at 50, without having the chance to properly turn rebellion into money. no doubt paul freakin' mccartney, eric clapton et al will be around for the next 40 years to subject us to shocking millionaire rock albums. when it comes to rock'n'roll there's no such thing as justice
