Hi just wondered into your forum. I am total car nut.... everything from imports to american cars.
I try to look at the techanical sides of things and loving tuning. I have F/I car http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
Not a honda... but I think I can be a bit of help. A 97 Mazda MX-5 Miata pushing 15psi of boost http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
I am trying to help out a friend that has 95 GSR on power issues. Not having Honda exp. I hope you guys can help...

Marc just read over you story about your JRSC. I have only heard of couple Eaton blowers to ever fail. Both of them were over 10000 miles on them. I guess they're bad ones out there.
I don't really care for JR anyway.
I have ran 16 psi a few times.... I am just knock prone at 16psi. I would have to retard my timing a bit or run something higher than 93 octane. Besides at 7200 rpms I am seeing a 72% injector duty cycle, I don't think I can push my 550s too much farther.

15 psi?! Hmm, I think it's about time I installed the Profec and fuel pump to run 16 psi http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Oh, welcome to the board.

Welcome, man. I've run into my fair share of FI Miata's. DAMN, THOSE THINGS http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Any way what is it your bud seeks? Best bang for the buck right now might be the new greddy turbo kit for the Tegs. I've seen some pretty impressive numbers.....high 12 to low 13's(on slicks of course). Not bad for a basic bolt-on affair. Let us know.

Thanks guys... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif He is first doing some handing mods when he get back. After he road in my car he is leaning heavy on handling. I am a huge fan of engine management. So that going to be the first thing... Find a good ECU to take care of future mods. Of course being a turbo guy... I am pushing him in the turbo direction.
Yep... Bigkat turbo miatas can be very quick. To bad more owners don't mod them. Ever seen what a turbo Miata lays down at 22psi. A guy in TX is runing 22 psi of boost on STOCK BOTTOM END!!!! He broke in to the 10s a few weeks ago.
The motor isn't the weak point... Just got to keep the tranny and rear diff together.
Whats the word on the new Greddy kit? Garrett based or Mitsu?
Thanks

The super miatas totally kick ass! The 5.0 litre powered Kenne bell supercharged Miata is something I would be afraid to drive.
The rotary swaps really appeal to me. The 1.3 weighs less than the standard 1.8 litre Miata engine and it creates 255HP in stock form. You can hit 350HP with just bolt ons and in a car that weighs 2200 lbs that spells F-U-N!
I looked at the Miatas after my Honda was stolen but it was a bit small for me as was the S2000.

Marc no engine swap is easy. The 5.0 conversion is much easier to do than a rotary. I love rotary engines but in a Miata it takes a lot of custom work and BFH to get the job done. I agree with you a rotary engine would mate to Miata with perfection.
5.0 would be scary fast but... would throw the weight transfer off. Handling is what makes the Miata.
So most owners seeking HP go with a turbo in our little world. It is very easy to reach 280 rwhp with the stock bottom end. That is daily driven streetable. 280 seems to be our limit on stock rods. 300+ can be done... but your asking for trouble. #4 rod hates it.
350+ can be obtained very easy with a built bottom end. But... Then our Torsen LSD will go next with hard launchs. The tranny is too far behind. You can replace the Rearend with the RX-7 Turbo II pretty easy and that will take the punishment. No one yet has found away around the Stock Tranny.
My tranny is on the verge of going. I plan to have it rebuilt and Cyro freeze everything I can. Add few braces to it and it should stay alive a little longer.
The stock motor is pretty sweet for F/I, going N/A is pain though. The Block dates back to the 323 GTX turbo. Basicly it is the same block with slightly higher compression ratio, 9:1, the piston have oil spray cooling which is nice for F/I. Only other engines you see oil spray cooling on, are factory F/I motors. This is reason you see our stock engine holding up to 15 psi daily and I would push my engine to 17-18 psi if my injectors will take me there. 18 psi is the limit to my small turbo anyway, T25/28, nice for quick spool up though.
Anyway you put it 250 rwhp is fun in 2200 lb car.
I would love to check out a S2000 though. Any engine that revs to 9000 has to sound awesome. I hear handling is ungoddly too.
Only bad thing I have heard about the car, other than dealer mark ups, is the digital dash makes it seem like your moms minivan. What was Honda thinking on that one?
