I finally got around to installing my Jaz catchcan and ES motor mounts today. Thanks to zip for helping me out with questions about the "oil cap mod". The front two motor mounts were really easy to install...I didn't bother with the back one. There's pretty heavy vibration but you get used to it. Also, my exhaust doesn't "putter" anymore when I accelerate. With only the front two installed the car feels alot more solid. I wasn't able to do a reliable wheel hop test because the roads were wet. The catchcan install was pretty straightforward but was also a pain...only because of minor things. In order to get to the PCV on my civic I had to take the oil filter off which spills precious redline oil. Then, you have to drill the oil cap which is a pain if you only have a drill that takes up to 3/8" drill bits. Finding a place to mount the catchcan is a pain as well...especially when there aren't any screws or bolts supplied to connect the metal bracket to the catchcan. Luckily, I found a screw lying around that fit perfectly. I mounted the catchcan on the right shock tower just forward of the battery and bent the bracket around to fit right. I'll try to get some pictures for my website. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me. Don't be offended if I don't answer right away, I work out of town and I only get home a couple times a week. Later!

Its good to hear the install went well. I'm considering purhasing the ES motor mounts. How hard was it to install the two front mounts, rate it between 1-10. How long did it take and what precautions, if any, should be taken. I installed the JRSC myself, so I have some experience disassembling "stuff". Thanks.

The side motor mounts are trivial - compared to the JRSC. My install was difficult due to the seizing of the drivers side mount bolt. With vice grips around the shaft of the bolt, I was finally able to take it off.
If it werent for the seized bolt, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. 10 being a strut tower brace change.
...just remember I am talking only about the front two http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hehehe...LOL Drives an LS, that easy eh? I heard the engine drops during the installation, which got me concerned since I don't have an engine lift. Thanks.

qhat is the 'oil cap' mod? don't we already have a valve cover breather? my D16Z has one... also, i think it's ok to just go from the stock pcv hose to the catch can as is, without having to go to the oil separator... worked great on my civic.

Hey Zip front lower 2 engine mount inserts are fairly easy...I would say a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10...heres some tips..firt off make sure you have 1/2 inch ratchet set....a 3/8 will not do the job here...too small...and have a breaker bar or extension pipe handy incase one of the bolts are stubborn...when lowering the motor....you will see on either side with the side mounts there are 3 bolts holding the motor...the two outer bolts are facing up...so you can see how much thread you have left...just equally un-bolt all three untill you reach almost the top of the threads...then install the lower inserts..then re-tighten lifting the motor in the process....no big deal....and last thing is go and get some washers to hold the two side mounts in other wise they will fall out and you will lose them on the street somewhere...if you need some more info just email me

Also guys I have heard alot of complaints that the car vibrates like crazy after the ES mounts are installed....I did the install of the mounts in my friends Integra with a JRSC...with all three mounts in there is a little vibration...but nothing terrible...way less than expected...but I will tell you...even if we had alot of vibration I still think we would have kept the mounts on...considering how much bettter the car launchs at the track..no hop at all...and with slicks they are awesome

I had my ES mounts installed into my Integra in January and I love them. I don't know why people are complaing so much about the vibration. The only time it feel much different than stock to me is when I have the AC on, that's really when I feel the vibration. Anyway, the benifits are worth the vibration.

Hey guys! Zip, the two front mounts are a piece of cake to install...2 on a 1-10 scale. The only hard part is loosening the bolts on the driver's side upper mount (to lower the engine). A breaker bar needs to be used to do this. I sprayed WD-40 on all bolts to be removed and let it sit for an hour before wrenching. No hoist or jack is needed to hold the engine for installation of the front two mounts...I don't know about the rear mount though. Lundgren's site was a BIG help for the motor mount install. CivicR gave a pretty good description of what to do. I seem to be having a small problem with oil leakage around the washer on the oil cap. Other than that, the catchcan seems to be working OK. Would it be OK to pour any oil that is drained from the catchcan back into the engine?

No, don't poor back the oil from the catchcan back into the engine because it contains condensation and blowby gunk. I'll try to install the motor mounts soon. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
