My 15 year old daughter suddenly wants to get her navel pierced. (One of her best friends just had it done)
I'm neutral. Wifey says no way, she can wait until she's 18. I told my daughter that she'll need both of our approvals so it's a no go right now.
I'm on the fence with this one but I'm leaning towards the idea that she's too young to make this decision. She just recently got a second set of piercings on her ears. I would never let her pierce any other part of her body other than the navel whilst she is underage.
I'd like to hear other opinions on this.

well i told my daughter that when she's 12 she can get another hole in her ears but as far as a navel ring hm me personally i would wait until at the very least 16 or 17

I agree, Andy. 15 would be too young for any child of mine.
17 maybe, 18 they need to start making decisions for themselves <u>and</u> know/accept the responsibilities/consequences that go with them.

Mine answer is "nay". Unqualified. Plenty time enow to get pierced when she is supporting herself.

One of my boys got his ears pierced when he was 15....
both of them! and he's got no hair!

Don't have any kids, but my vote would be "No" until 18. For one thing it doesn't really sound like it is something she really wants per se, her friend did it so now she wants one. Also, the only 2 people I've ever known who had it done BOTH had theirs get infected (ick!).

NO until she has shown she can stand on her own feet, out of your house, independent, smart enough to know what is just fad shit and what really counts...like what to put between her ears.

plus, the navel takes the longest to heal and gets infected easiest due to a lack of sufficient bloodflow through the area
