Just saw the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Believe the HYPE ladies and gentlemen! THIS MOVIE BLOWS! I've never been more convinced that Alan Moore, a true writing inspiration, couldn't care less about Hollywood and what they do to his stories, he's just interested in whatever they're paying him for the rights...
I had hopes...such high hopes...but they've just twisted the story too much. Adding Tom Sawyer as the "American" touch...making Mina into a vampire...adding Dorian Gray...and the technology! Gawddamn...I mean, Moore's story has an impressive array of gadgetry, but it still sits well within the boundaries of the time frame he's writing...instead we have the evil villian who's arctic lair is bigger than pretty much anything on the REAL Earth making tanks, machine guns, flamethrowing "robots" and such in freakin' 1899...and the car! Can't forget Nemo's automobile that looks like it's made out of the latest polycarbons and metals and what not...
Do yourselves a favor: Save your $8.75...go see Pirates of the Carribean instead...
Worst Comic Movie EVER!

Let me set the "showgirls" scene here: Me and a bunch of my fraternity brothers decide to go to see the movie because it's playing in our little theatre (for $1.50 mind you!) and since it's Saturday, we decide the best thing to do first it to have a few drinks. Okay a lot of drinks. Needless to say, we're all feeling quite good to one degree or another before we head off to the movie...then we're watching the movie...then we get to the pool scene...the next thing I know, one of the guys looks at me and whispers, "Well that sobered me up. I don't think I can take this sober. Should we go drink?" (Or something to that effect)...My response is an affirmative YES because that stupid pool scene not only killed my buzz, it gave me a headache...so we all got up and went back to the bar...
The moral of the story: Sure sex sells. Sure sex sells when drunken frat boys are concerned. What Showgirls gave us though? It ain't right. It just ain't right.

I think it has more to do with using the "X"...and one other thing I need to add about how BAD this movie was...it almost became the second film I've ever walked out on (the first being Showgirls)...

I walked out on Street Fighter the movie, showgirls had sex in it. yes you can point and laugh now. but sex sells....sex sells.
