Lighten up a bit, Alison.

oh i'll lighten up alright.....
Move all your stuff away from the kitchen, get a fire extinguisher, and then MAKE it catch on fire.
I'd like to see the landlord explain that to the fire department.
That's plain evil... i like it!
And it sounds more like a defective switch than a bad light.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....
ok... so most of you are familiar with this
bullshit place i'm living in...
you know, ganked oven knob, broken sink
sprayer, dryer lint trap broken, dishwasher
dial broken...
and the ever popular topic.... my AC....
anyways... there is ANOTHER issue...
one that has gone on for some time...
though random enough not to irritate me
like the AC issue did.
the kitchen light....
its one of those fluorescent mo fos...
i think it has a short in the wiring...
and as we all remember from my sister's
escapade... that can lead to a FIRE!
anyways... yeah... it doesn't come on
when i flip the switch... so i have to flip
it a bazillion fuckin times before it finally
clicks on ........ IF it comes on
at all.
now i know how those bulbs work... so i
do not suggest that its the bulbs....
the light does flicker on just as i'm
turning the switch... then doesn't progress
to a full 'ON' when the switch is all the
way up....
so i just had to deal with that fucker for
about 5 minutes...
and i wanted to rant about it.
cheerio!

Great reply... stupid!
hmmmm..... switch..... good call.....
i guess i was so used to the household problems
being so immense and assinine that i naturally
assumed it was the light itself.
will find out..... *grumbles still*
Just don't forget to pull the plug on the power when you start fiddling with stuff, wouldn't want your new hairdo standing upright
I think it's the switch too. It sounds just like the one I have in the storage room. I press it, I slam it and nothing so I end up hitting it full strenght. I fight a war with it. It's annoying.
It might be the (WTF are they called again...) solenoids or capacitors or, gawd, I'd have to search for a flourescent light repair manual...
Anyways, if it's flourescent, it'll have a small aluminum drum attached to one end. Bout half-inch circumfrence, little over an inch in length, they act kinda like sparkplugs on your car, giving it the boost of juice to kick-on. $2.00 max for a replacement & it should be fine (if that's what the problem is). Sounds like that's the problem from what you said above though.
