Read Darren's message over on the f/c site, am I some sort of zombie for not crying over it or jumping for joy (either one)? With my usual sense of selfishness I seem to be feeling kind of emotionless about the whole thing. It might be because I've had a trying day but I don't know. I don't even know why I'm posting this except it's probably the only place I can without getting eaten alive [img]wink.gif[/img] Am I just evil?

But what I really meant to say was, in case I don't get a chance next week, Merry Xmas to everyone here and I hope you all have a terrific time. Oh, and I also hope Santa brings you all you desire!! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I wouldn't worry too much about it, like you said, it could just be the day you've had and I think everyone has their own way of reacting to things.

I have to say I actually did feel choked up reading it a little. Which as you all knowis mighty unusual for me. I thought it was pretty honest and Im glad to see that he is coming to terms with things like it doesnt all have to be romance and flowers and perfection. That things are flawed. I think this little dark journey of an album could be right up my alley. I love music that makes you "hurt"

I know what you mean, cos I didn't feel excited about his message either. I think too much has happened this year for me to be as thrilled about him 'speaking' to us as I once was.

Hi Sam

Isn't it wonderful to have this place where you can post your opinions without fear of judgment even though others have totally different opinions...it is precious!

The message didn't make me cry or feel great elation either, in fact I had to read it a few times. In the end it made me feel inspired that you can come out on the other side of that kind of pain (Is that the right word...not sure) Maybe I need to be able to write songs too, lol!

I hope you have a lovely christmas Sam and that in 2004 you too can step out of the trials of this year! Hugs [img]smile.gif[/img]

I thought it was a nice message but it didn't stir any sort of emotion in me either, apart from making me laugh at the thought of some ppl actually crying over it! [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] I mean, PUH-LEESE!!! I guess I'm well past the 'fan' stage with Darren now and he's just someone who's music I like (some of the time). Nothing more than that. [img]confused.gif[/img] (My feelings re SG's music are still the same though but that's a different story. [img]wink.gif[/img] )

Anyhoo - have a fab Xmas Sam and that goes for everyone else on here too! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

LOL well i didnt cry over it but I liked it as a message as such. I think its cause Im not that emotionally involved anymore that I can just take things as they are and not put a bitter twisted spin on things hahaha.

Okay, I guess I am the big bawl baby here, but that message really really got to me. I worry alot about Darren. Some may say that is crazy... to worry about someone that I don't even personally know; but truthfully, because of his lyrics and his journals, etc... I do feel like a know a piece of him and because of that I worry about him. I had fears he was not doing well... and this journal really did confirm that for me, and that made me sad [img]frown.gif[/img] But at the same time it made me smile because I also feel that he is okay with all of that and is accepting things and moving through them. Things that I wasn't sure he was able to accept and move with before.

And I just adored his Uncle stories. I could just picture him sitting snuggled with his nephew while reading How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I could just see him hording popcorn at the movie theatre. I could just see him with a 6 year old across from him, smiling as they did yoga together.

So yeah... that message really really moved me and just re-affirmed what it is I admire and love about Darren.

I really admire his ability to be so insightful, yet so very personable at the same time. I'm reminded of when I met him in Bristol. The feeling of "knowing" him, like he was not Darren, but a friend. In person, he has this amazing ability to make people feel at ease and comfortable, and his words always do that to me as well.

And I can not wait for this album!!!!! *Will pitch a tent outside HMV to be the first to buy it*<hr /></blockquote>He just feels like an *old soul* to me who I've always known and understood.

*waves hand while wiping eyes* Yeah...I'm a bawl baby too. I agree with you Laurie, I feel like I'm in his life a small part so I guess I do feel an attachment and I do get emotional sometimes when I read his journals. I won't bore you with details, but he's done some wonderful things for me through his music and things he's said, so that attachment is still very strong for me.
