I've seen two of his films: 'Julian Donkey Boy', and 'Gummo' - I don't think he's made the transition to artist from cheap flake just yet, but I do see an incredibly powerful style emerging. Any comments?

Harmony is a he? Well I know HE has worked with singer Will Oldham (aka Bonnie Prince Billie). Oldham appears in JULIAN DONKEY BOY very briefly, and I was pretty sure he directed some videos for him. I think I saw some clips of them and they were just okay, so no, I'm not too familiar after all...
Okay, I just checked. I've seen Kids and Gummo. Not really impressed. Also saw his video for Sonic Youth with Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner called 'Sunday'. Was just okay too. I don't find this guy a gifted director at all. See for yourself:

His movies are not for everyone. They're very, very, avant garde and are closer to the underground films of the 70's then anything you would see today. Pretty stange guy to from what I've heard.

Hmm. A guy named Harmony. I wonder if his parents were hippies?
Isn't he doing a thing on David Blaire, the nutcase holed up for forty days in a glass box over London?
Ahh come on, you can't dislike him too much. He's a fellow super 8 fan! Besides, there's a lot worse then him-and I mean alot WORSE-like Victor Salva. It's amazing to me that people actualy allow this Beast to keep making movies.

I'm just shocked because for years I thought Harmony was a woman! Plus, just after I posted here I heard Steve Dahl, (chicago radio personality), talking about Harmony and David Blaine. But that aside, his films simply strike me as slick exploitation and a little dull. Kids seemed cool in high school but now I understand how he is really just being condescending. I think my biggest problem is with these 'scenester' directors. All the hip people are ultimately friends with the guy rather than judging his work on it's own merit. Or maybe they truely are impressed? Who knows, who cares...
hmm, i havent seen Gummo but I had though that it was a Larry Clark film, I personally am not a big fan of Kids, his other feature, but a lot of his photography is really great. Am I wrong in thinking that he was a part of that project?
I realized that kids was a Larry Clark film, i may not have phrased that very well, but i also thought that Gummo was a Clark film
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You've got it backwards, Gummo is his film and Kids was a Larry Clark film, though Harmony Korine was a writer. I was mixed up too.Quote:
